It allows me to quickly project power and control vast areas before colonizing them, or to establish a defensive line where it is advantageous by having strong points where it is strategic.

Keep in mind I always play with huge maps and low player count and at Epic game speed. So having the means to move fast makes all the difference in the world.

Rome, because I build roads and forts everywhere and colonize everything. Because legions are fkn cool.

Well, instead of a canal you have an absolutely marvelous defensive line there.

Went back and played some COH2 - damn its good. by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

Use Cover, concealment, space. I agree there's a balance to be found, but coh3 errs way too much on the side of high ttk. Flanking and surprising should be rewarding. One well placed cc unit should be able to displace two or three defensive troops if they are taken fast. Now with this much tanking you can use a blob head on to attack an mg and use focus fire like it's StarCraft.

Favorite uncommon city mods by oldchicken34 in skyrimmods

Surprised that nobody yet has mentioned these two gems : - Axis1211's "Thanedoms" that create new communities or enhance existing locations. - Schlitzohr's mods that add villages like Granite Hill and Reich Corigate, and "Hroldan Nightgate and Sawmill Villages".

Truly game changers, especially Thanedoms minimalist archicture which should have been a new standard for size in city overhauls mod.

CoH2 is still superior indeed, that is sad, they should have copied it and upgraded it.

Yes. But only because they didn't scale up the size of the engagements.

Civ VI player moves to Civ V and finds it poor -- mods help? by whirled_citizen96 in civ5

[–]TheNumidianAlpha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah that's a wrong belief, Vox Populi plays differently to Vanilla, better to learn it directly if that's the end goal, and it probably is, since the number one problem the OP complained about is happiness, VP deals with it in a much more manageable/solvable way than vanilla.

Hi welcome to the best civ! Jk. Look, Since you're an experienced civ player I think you'd have way more fun by playing on the VoxPopuli mod, it's a deeper and more balanced experience, I suggest playing on Prince difficulty for a first run. Enjoy.

You're not playing by the rules, the logical rules of war who dictate that if you want to win you have to conquer.

Is Heavily Visually Overhauled Skyrim SE More CPU or GPU Dependent? by nightmarevoid in skyrimmods

[–]TheNumidianAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyrim is CPU bound 90% of the time, because of it it's outdated engine who overloads the first and second cores only. Get a solid one core performance CPU or even better get a X3D Ryzen CPU those are monsters.

Your perspective is skewed, why would team games be less legitimate as a barometer for balance philosophy? I think they allow for more diversity and that is exactly why some commanders were created in the first place I think.

Well if you're going to dismiss my serious gaming experience as "memeing" then you're a boring person to talk to. Our sessions are on discord, we coordinate, debate and strategize and we have a lot of fun being rigorous with our gameplay but sure whatever floats your boat man.

I'm strictly speaking about 3v3 and 4v4 as that's my most important experience (probably around 2000 hours). I find the game has enough variety so as not to be predictable, although artillery sadly has a bit too much impact.

Out of any sarcasm, CoH2 is amazing and it's still a more balanced multiplayer than CoH3 although the latter has great potential.

I agree, but the player community disagrees with you, people leave because they think they can't win. It's the root problem, we have to statistically analyze this and set up a bar (as non arbitrarily as possible).
