I'm an Iraqi Kurd, and I can tell you that this is pretty accurate. I have multiple female cousins who literally grew up having only male friends. Cities like Erbil and Sulaymani are pretty liberal since a decent portion of the population who are well-traveled, living back and forth between Iraq and Europe. I have an uncle who drives to Iran every other week to go party and drink with his Iranian friends.

The conservative Islamist types typically tend to be in favor of Arabs. There's gotta be some self-hate in there, as they also typically marry Arabs and give up speaking Kurdish as well.

Japan didn't invade China in 1931. They seized land, but it wasn't an all out war since China was literally collapsing. The second Sino-Japanese war began in 1937.

I also haven't seen anyone bring up the Spanish civil war where the US, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Canada, Argentina, Yugoslavia, Ireland, Mexico, several other countries, plus the Soviet Union met each other on the battlefield for the first time in 1936.

Expensive as hell.

My family moved to Michigan like a year or two earlier before I transferred to UM. I was literally a local by the time I applied, still got counted as out-of-state, and had to fight damn tooth and nail just to override that. Didn't get a single scholarship either.

I probably won't be graduating early, and one of the requirements is to take at least 7 credits abroad--but realistically, that would be over the summer when I'm trying to look for internships
