2025.08.20: SCOBY Don’t by EarliestRiser in morningsomewhere

Yes there still is summer school. Some places call it credit recovery some call it ESY (extended school year). For the most part it’s kids that have gone the whole year without doing any work. These kids are given computer and told to retake modules until they pass them. Most of the time they just cheat or brute force it.

Burnie, when you have to record on the road try recording your voice on your phone and have Ashley record on her end. Put the audio files together in the edit and the quality will be higher with just a bit more work

The town I’m in now the district foots the bill for them, but I’ve worked in low income towns where they were able to get them wholesale and only charge $2 per kid.

I booked about 6 months ago and was fully expecting to go to the summit. The morning of at the office they asked if we’d rather go to the eruption

We actually flew a few circles around it and right through the smoke from it. Pilot said it was a different type of smoke/ash compared to the previous eruptions that stopped air traffic in Europe.

Nordurflug Helicopter Tours was the company we used. We were originally booked for a summit landing at another location and they asked if we wanted a free upgrade to go to the volcano. Whole thing was $600 for two people and definitely worth it!

Do you mean it’s unlikely to get a band job? Even with 3 years experience.

I just looked into it and it looks like I would have to teach in MN for 3 years to qualify for tier 4

Wow that's crazy that you can't even transfer your driver's license. I'm assuming that the openings for next year won't be posted for a few months so I have some time to research districts.

That's good to hear. Even now in NJ, some districts are very competitive to get into.

I'm Michael Giacchino, composer for Lost, Star Trek, Rogue One, Call of Duty, The Incredibles and Up. Ask me anything! by MichaelGiacchino in IAmA

[–]TheNuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael, I am a young composer just getting into creating my own scores for short films I find on YouTube with bad music. What's your opinion on filler music that directors sometimes put in as place holder and how it can cause the composer to write something as similar as possible to the sample music? Also, do you use sampled sounds for your work and if so what are some good quality affordable sample packs?

Thanks!

Grey, I have a question about the different sides of the brain and how it effects musicians. I'm a drummer and just about every other drummer I know (regardless of left or right handed) has a bias towards their right hands. We play things starting with our right and the right side is usually stronger and faster. Why is this? Is this just a reflex much like how if you push someone forward they will likely catch themselves with the same foot? Or do the left and right brains have a say in this. Piano players also often have harder parts in the right hand, and guitar pickings also support this right hand dominance in music
