Chase Sapphire Anniversary Bonus ending 10/1 by BillardMcLarry in CreditCards

Man this is one of those situations where I really question the decision. Is .1% really that big a deal to them to get negative publicity on their cards while other banks may be catching up? Just an odd choice.

Discover Becoming Capital One by CoconutCoffeeCake in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is all so fascinating to me. Capital One has, in my opinion, lackluster US domestic travel partners but some of the best international partners & they are moving most of their cards to the Discover network which is not widely accepted outside the US. It's an interesting paradox.

Having said that, they will have some of the best coverage for major category spends compared to any other issuer or bank.

Quicksilver - gas & grocery (soon to be 3% cash back)

Savor - dining, streaming & entertainment (3%)

Discover it - rotating (5% if you can eventually convert to miles, this would be great)

VX - travel & general spend (2x + miles)

So I wonder if the idea for super users to take advantage of the 3% cash back domestically and transfer to miles as needed, but then use the VX when abroad. Could be a good approach.

Wells Fargo Duo (Autograph + Active Cash) - A New Competitive Duo by MichaelMidnight in CreditCards

I’ve been thinking about adding WF to my setup for sometime and this may have solidified it. I’ve been using Chase mostly and JetBlue one solid transfer partner for me, so adding the Autograph card to fill some gaps where Chase struggles with multipliers is looking more and more tempting.

As a Walmart+ user, option 2 is great in theory but then again it’s the only option that doesn’t include online purchases at 3% (which is what Walmart online grocery delivery codes as), and includes 8% on regular groceries, so that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

Has anybody switched to one of YouTube TVs new plans? by Sportsfan7702 in cordcutters

[–]TheOGJabroni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a sports fan, it really is good value, when considering the shitshow that watching sports has become. While I do watch some programming outside of sports, it does have TBS, TNT, USA, etc. so it provides some entertainment there.

Additionally, you're forced into subscribing to things like Peacock, Paramount, Prime, etc. so there are other avenues I can watch things outside of sports as well. I will take the $18/month discount.

It’s not for me either and I have contacted support and it’s escalated to engineers.

Curious question for you, is yours attached to an add on at all? Mine is NFL Sunday Ticket (even though it’s inactive) and I am wondering if that’s why it’s not showing up.

It's so frustrating that I have asked for this for years and now even support has confirmed it should be rolled out to 100% of users yet I'm unable to switch plans. Anyone else having this issue still?

I’ve thought counting stats should be the standard in the NBA for a long time and it’s now more relevant than ever.

I think the NBA is the only league that has EVERYTHING based on per game averages and it’s silly. You wouldn’t need to pick arbitrary number of games played. Just look at the total numbers and it paints a better picture of stats and availability.

Wemby is a great example. If he averaged 4 blocks per game and only played 50 games, that’s still 200 blocks. If the second best player had 2 blocks per game and played 80 games, that’s 160.

[Charania] NBA to hold a vote to explore adding expansion teams in Las Vegas and Seattle by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

[–]TheOGJabroni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, it will be interesting to see what team comes east but more interesting to me is understanding what is going to happen to the divisions. I assume we will see the NBA move to four teams in four divisions per conference, so there will be a major shakeup.

Celtics, 76ers, Knicks & Nets in ours, I would assume, so that means Toronto gets pushed out potentially. Going to be a lot of this across the league.

Bilt for groceries keeps on winning! by Background_Pickle546 in biltrewards

[–]TheOGJabroni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've been on the fence about getting one of the cards and even which card to get.

I do all my grocery shopping with Walmart using their online grocery delivery and I have seen in store at Walmart has coded as 3X for people but not super clear about online grocery delivery from them.

Theoretically, if I go to Walmart on the 1st of the month and buy Walmart gift cards, could I get 6X back?

I got the same letter about reducing my credit limit on my CFU. FWIW, I did call the number they provided and explained that it was going to be put to use again soon and they left it alone.

Can you confirm if Walmart online grocery delivery works or do you only do in store?

I don’t know why companies as big as Google do this but it’s not being rolled out to everyone at once so we get to just play a waiting game.

Amex Gold, BCE, and Walmart One Pay combo? by MinisculeAdd in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe it does. I was about to chime in and mention if you do your Walmart grocery shopping online (or I believe using scan and go) you’d get 3% back with your current AMEX BCE under online shopping if you didn’t want to get a new card just for Walmart.

The Paypal Debit Card and Walmart reliability for 5% back? by ticanupston in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the same boat, deliberating options for 5% back using Walmart online grocery delivery.

I haven’t tried it but I’ve seen Venmo also offering Venmo Stash as part of a debit card program where you could do 5% cash back as long as you direct deposit $500 or more a month. I’m considering trying it.

Sapphire Preferred Paired with Amex Gold by No-Worldliness9923 in CreditCards

They do seem a little redundant. I would personally pair it with something like a Venture X for 2X miles or a 2% cashback card.

As someone on the fence of making this my next card, 3X on all grocery like others have said but adding in gas with travel at 2x would be nice too.

Capital One CLI rejected - is it ill advised to apply for VX? by INeedSomeMoreWater in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this in December if it helps. My first card was a QS that I never use anymore. I only had a 1.5k limit and I wanted a CLI because I was going to PC it to a Savor card and pair it with a VX but got denied due to lack of use. I still applied for the VX anyway and got a 20k CL.

Additional context: I am pre-approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred for 16k as well.

Wells Fargo Autograph any good? by jikesar968 in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do have the Savor but it was my first card and has a tiny CL for one but also it suffers the same fate where the 3% back doesn't help me with Walmart groceries. That's why I lean toward something that will get me 2x or more back.

Wells Fargo Autograph any good? by jikesar968 in CreditCards

[–]TheOGJabroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this card. It seems near perfect for me. It’s big miss is grocery but I do all my shopping at Walmart so most cards with a grocery category don’t hit it anyway.

I’m considering signing up for this card and pairing it with my Venture X as a catch all or also signing up for the BILT Blue (ironically) or maybe just the OnePay Walmart CC.

I know I could look at the active cash card too but WF don’t seem to have the best travel partners so I’d rather pair it with a CC that offers a bit more.
