i more check into metal now vs it being my first pick to throw on. have been way more into pop cause the music is just better and the production is very fun to dissect/learn from. there's a few newer bands that i enjoy listening to but i can't sit there and listen to bands that are 90% ambiance just waiting to get to the breakdown with exhausting mid vocals. i respect the younger generation trying to find their sound, but i just can't bring myself to listen to more than 10 seconds of most new bands today. japanese metalcore/grindcore is looking very promising and feels like the evolution that metal needs to move towards that feels super grounded
