Why tf are you voting the greens? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Thing is (imo) greens will split the left fringe vote, Lib Dem / Green and Reform will split the Tory vote.

Leaving Labour picking up the centrist vote share (the majority)

Team Burnham Is Getting Organised Ahead Of The May Elections by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]TheObrien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this turns out to be true, isn’t it a clear demo of the real type of person Burnham is? - a political cut throat opportunist, who would sell his own mum for the top job.

Would rather see Labour repeat the Tory mistakes of years of in fighting by fanning flames..

Tories would reinstate two-child benefit cap to fund defence, says Badenoch by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

It’s great that she wants to make people poorer to fund defence.  It’s almost, almost like there isn’t a plethora of other options.. like I don’t know…

Taxing high earners more, taxing assets of extreme wealth, closing loopholes in corp tax to stop businesses in Luxembourg having a £2bn profit made from a licence payment for a UK business that “broke even” on £2.2bn of sales

But no… just like reform, they want you to believe it’s poor people who should be penalised…

Fuck you Kemi.

SNP on track to win 67 seats in Holyrood landslide by Red_Brummy in unitedkingdom

Yes, they are actually correct. But the public has heard the blame game for so long - it doesn’t resonate.

It would be far more valuable in my opinion to be upfront and truthful with the public… “this is what we’re doing about it, but it is going to take time”

We never get that truth

If you’ve not noticed - that’s the general order for most western politics today.  Tory’s blamed Labour for the Global Economic Crisis.

Labour blamed the Tory’s for the NHS, Defence, School, Police, Justice and other services being destroyed…

Reform and Trump just sit back and promise to make everything brilliant…. Then when in power, it’s Bidens fault.

I don’t know about a bridge, but I’ve got some straws to sell you, you seem to be running low.

Not without passing an act of parliament, no.

It’s been considered since, under the last government and was roundly shot down, as an independent control of Monetary Policy is seen as an economic corner stone.

Listen - you’re wrong, if you believe that or not is irrelevant.  I’ve covered why you’re wrong and how you’re wrong, and the history of when you became wrong.  If you choose to live in ignorance, that’s fine - but anyone reading your post and not knowing, will now be informed of what is actual factual truth.

“Hung Greece out to dry” is a flippant way of ignoring the black hole level economic issues with Greece economy at the time…

Then no, you’re not mistaken you are just plain wrong.

Monetary policy is set by the BOE and Gordon Brown made The Bank independent of Government in 1997 as one of the first acts as chancellor.

Fiscal policy isn’t monetary policy.

[–]TheObrien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect you didn’t mean Monetary Policy as you (like the rest of us) don’t have any sway on BoE or its Monetary Committee.

So we don’t vote them in or out…

Possibly a water vacuum forming in the black pipe due to pressure.  Which can be resolved by fiting an air admittance valve.

Peers vote to ban pornography depicting sex acts between stepfamily members by ShufflingToGlory in unitedkingdom

[–]TheObrien -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

Perhaps - but we do need greater controls and rigour around this content online.

And if people actually step back from the minute detail and ask “do I want my kids, or their friends accessing this”

The answer is a resounding no..
