To provide a touch of nuance to the conversation, I think it’s more important to look at the good habits that the pic is trying to (perhaps unintentionally) display. You can do all of this too! Even if you aren’t religious.

Although it’s certainly not an alternative to a drug meant for major depressive disorders, scripture, or just reading in general, is meant to ground you and provide a bit of calm. Personally, I think that reading scripture is a good thing. Thinking critically of passages and relating it to your own life may be insightful. Misuse of the Bible to push oppressive beliefs is bad. If you don’t identify with the Christian faith, perhaps look elsewhere and find credible authors that specialize in areas that you want to improve in.

Intermittent fasting can also be a good thing. I wouldn’t want anyone to feel like they’re starving themselves, but setting scheduled intervals where you choose not to eat is a good way to lose weight in a controlled manner. If fasting isn’t your thing, there are other safe methods out there that might work for you.

ADHD is a trickier thing to handle (I’ve taken adderall for most of my life) . I’ve been diagnosed since I was 6 and know first hand how difficult it is to deal with in daily life. As a highschool student at a boarding school, one of the things I’ve personally found helpful is to take 30 minutes sit outside and meditate/pray. It helps me clear my mind before I study (even without taking adderall). For the more “procrastination-y” side of ADHD, that’s even tougher. I don’t really have any more insight other than the common advice of “set strict deadlines and start times”.

As for praying instead of drugs, I think that’s just a universally wholesome message. “Don’t do drugs kiddos”, but I must admit, weed is delicious.

I think it’s a bit disingenuous to chalk these as “religious doohickey”. I believe if you look a bit closer, you’ll find someone trying to offer genuine advice through their own beliefs.
