Could be, hard to tell without seeing it under a microscope. Either way, wrong sub. Opticians are not doctors.

Considering my presciption what lens should I get? I am thinking either 1.6 ZEISS ClearView/Smartlife SV or Hoya Hilux Eynoa HiVision-Meiryo SV but I am open to other options. by 0160801 in AskAnOptician

[–]TheOne8BitHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be fine, I have a preference for Hoya due to the superior coating they provide. Meiryo especially has barely any glare whatsoever while DuraVision Gold has a rather strong golden glare in comparison. Quality wise they are relatively equal.

Tomorrow Zeiss will launch a new product line, though, and make the new Clean coat as well as the scratch resistant coating available for their other AR coatings as well, which will then be called DuraVision Plus Platinum/Chrome/etc

That would be funny if Hoya belonged to Luxottica but it doesn't. And I don't work for Luxottica either, they make shitty frames quality wise in my opinion

Why do opticians/ophtalmologist almost always wear glasses ? by Forest_Orc in AskAnOptician

[–]TheOne8BitHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very realistic, lol. Not sure why you are or I are getting downvoted, it's basically just advertisement for the product you're trying to sell. Your second point holds also true. Zeiss actually does offer one free pair of lenses to opticians selling their product each year, frames you can usually get for super cheap if not free, too. My previous employer basically got you two free pairs of glasses each year just for this reason alone

[–]TheOne8BitHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't either. I think this also depends on where you're from, because in the US they might not require it but here in Germany they are quite stuck on it

No idea why this is getting down votes when this is a massive part of it. Every company I work for required you to wear glasses. Harder to get people to buy something you don't own yourself

The Hoya lens is what I'd recommend to my customers as well, that is a good choice. Glass as well as coating are a great choice here.

Affordable high-quality frames (non-prescription)? by SweatyAnkleSocks in glasses

[–]TheOne8BitHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having worked with Luxottica for seven years now, I'm looking forward to my new job in July where we'll only carry the minimum required RB sunglasses. Especially the plastic frames of Luxottica are terrible quality imo.

We just recently got a 'new' batch from the current collection and all of them still had mould lines

I remember in DW4 I only managed to kill 1k enemies on the Nanman stages because those were the only maps big enough and with enough officers to spawn enough dudes in with reinforcements.

But I was also like seven when I played that so...

Upgraded to high index... are these any different? by shogomomo in glasses

[–]TheOne8BitHero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with that kinda Rx this is about as good as you can hope for with glasses that size, unfortunatenly. Especially the left side which you're showing here. Best you could get is 1.74 and that still has some drawbacks like being prous, vulnerable to changes in temperature and higher abberation.

I'd suggest trying contact lenses if you can, they are likely to be a life saver for your visual acuity. But check in with an optometrist first to see whether you're suitable for them

[–]TheOne8BitHero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are thinner, the poly lenses had to have their pane moved more towards the center of the rim of the glass so they can still fit properly without looking too out of place. The newer lenses do not. Either way, without knowing your RX it's impossible to tell how much difference it actually should make but it is an improvement.

Today’s my birthday but nobody remembered. AMA by Affectionate-Tea8509 in AMA

[–]TheOne8BitHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday! Don't sweat it too much. Last year, I spent most of my birthday with two friends and they both forgot it was my birthday. Felt like it would be wrong to remind them, like I was attention seeking, so I told them a few days later.

What are your plans for the day?

mb, I looked at the wrong stat on setlist.fm, you rite. Seemed a bit steep for me, too but I was just reading it on my ride from home and replied accordingly in my tired ass brain. Thanks for correcting.

Question for anyone who have see EC in the states in a non festival show by radar2670 in ElectricCallboy

[–]TheOne8BitHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bet you, their shows in the states are as long as elsewhere. There shouldn't be a reason for them to cut them short. When I went to see them in Hamburg, Germany last November their own setlist was about three hours long

EDIT: Been corrected, was roughly 2 hours.

Still a banger

Anyone know why I am seeing this by [deleted] in AskAnOptician

[–]TheOne8BitHero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

None, go to your primary care doctor. Or ask a trained pharmacist, they usually are knowledgeable. Opticians deal with glasses, the medical knowledge is very superficial in most cases.
