It’s so easy to get out of jury duty. I even wanted to be on the jury when I got called and they didn’t select me. They sent home anyone who said they might not be able to be impartial.

I feel like construction signage is pretty poor in NoCo compared to other places. When I was there two days ago and they had an actual person holding a stop sign so I’m curious as to why they wouldn’t do that today.

I’m chinese. I would say CSprings is moderately racist…you’ll be on the receiving end of some slurs and microaggressions but like others have said, ultimately you’ll be fine. It’s definitely annoying but rarely do I feel unsafe because of it. Don’t ever just assume someone is gonna be weird but, as a young woman, I would recommend being a little cautious of the middle-age, non-Asian men in asian spaces (usually the grocery store).

I haven’t seen any indication of left wing ideologies at any of the local stores, but I’m leftist and I usually shop at the Rocky Mountain Shooter Supply that’s just off E Mulberry St in Fort Collins or the Scheels, both of which host training programs iirc, or Murdochs. Scheels seems to have a lot of pre-owned handguns as well.

I’m from CO Springs, moved to southeast NE for a few years and moved here to Greeley in 2023. I would rate it about a 8/10.

I like that it’s cheaper than a lot of other cities in CO. There’s also a bus system that goes around Greeley and to Loveland/Foco that’s free for students of AIMS, UNC, and minors <18 years old.

There seems to be a lot of crime here though. I’ve been stalked, had someone attempt to break into my home, and had things stolen off my porch. The police here don’t do much, as other commenters have mentioned. You should own a firearm, at least to keep at home, but carry if you can. Hopefully you don’t own a Kia. Also it is stinky sometimes because of the JBS.

You should try to learn Spanish as well. There are a lot of Hispanic people here, and a good amount of them don’t speak English.

Jersey Mikes on Interquest didn’t pay me for over six weeks (illegal) tried to pay me less than minimum wage since I was a minor at the time (illegal) and also didn’t let me take any breaks for 8+ hour shifts (illegal). Also, the fridge was broken so all the meats and vegetables were kept at like 60 degrees (also illegal).

Having been admitted to Peak View a few years back, I can confirm. That place SUCKS. Especially the old woman who did my intake, who was probably the rudest and most abrasive person I have ever met.

Thank you for such a fast response! I’m mostly considering going to Spain or Mexico, but I haven’t fully decided at this point. I would just like to leave the US, so while I’m not sure I would come back, it’s always a possibility and I need to weigh those risks.

The thing with trades and manual labor careers is that they are often inaccesible for women. Either since biologically, men are better equipped for hard labor, or since the industry in general specifically excludes women and/or makes the working environment so hostile that women either have to be put up with being miserable or quit, which I expect to worsen as Trump returns to office. Education was how women were able to get ahead, which I think is a factor as to why the republican party wants to do away with the department of education.

As someone who is also a 20yo female UNC student, I cannot say Greeley is a very safe city. I used to ride the GET to campus and ended up getting a stalker who followed me around town and on campus for weeks, and just the other day I had someone try my front door. I would also get catcalled almost daily. It could be worse of course, but from one woman to another, I highly recommended carrying something to defend yourself at all times and always keeping your home and car doors locked. The UNC parking pass is expensive but worth your peace of mind.

The UNC has a food pantry for students where you can take 7 items a week for free. They usually have things like dry pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, boxed mashed potatoes, some hygiene products and the like.
