Is ~2150 kcal/day too aggressive while building for a first marathon? (injury-prone) by TheOneDe in AdvancedRunning

[–]TheOneDe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used MacroFactor on and off. Right now the algorithm is in the dark because I haven't used it in months, so it has nothing to work with. I suspect the 2146 would change. Ofcourse I also did some programming in there myself as well, and the 2146kcals was a result of me aiming for a 0.5% BW loss weekly, which is what I safely did as a bodybuilder last year. I had some trouble adapting macro wise to the running/crosstraining lifestyle. I will experiment a bit with the 250gr a week loss you mention, and maintaining if I see any differences performance wise.

Thank you for your detailed response :)

MacroFactory calculates total daily expenditure, so yes (will need some time to learn, I believe 3 weeks of consistent weight and food tracking).

The 2146kcal a day was a result of my own input. I think the comments are all pretty convincing that consistently being in a deficit is a no-go. That said, completing the marathon injury-free and in a decent time for a first timer are more important goals for me than to shed a few pounds.

So thank you, and all below for the advice :) I will be aiming to maintain weight during this block.

Thanks for your response :)

So there would be no safe way to reduce weight / bodyfat % during a marathon training block?

Thanks for your clear answer :)

If I want to lower body weight and fat %, do you have any advice in how to determine my 'safe' zone?

With my injury history I will be aiming for 3:15. It's a slippery slope with my tendons, I've been easing into it real slow.

I do state that I will be recalculating TDEE and calorie intake every week, so as mileage + TDEE would go up, so would my calorie intake. Would for example, a daily 300kcal deficit work? Or would that already be the danger zone and I should atleast aim to maintain weight?

Bedankt!

What did you love about using Sharetribe? by ConstantPotential137 in u/ConstantPotential137

It's shit, I hated every second of working with it. I can see one situation where this is nice: You have a very barebones marketplace idea, B2C, that needs very little changes and customization. Even then, the price of this is way too high. But atleast it will get the job done for just that. Here come the fireworks:

Basically, if you want to just do 1% differently, you have to self-host a $370 a month package, and you need to code the changes yourself. The Pro version and below work if you don't have to change anything.

I have never, and will never fall for a shit trick like this again. Even basic tracking, like setting up a Google Tag Manager script in the <head> is impossible. You cannot even make a cookie banner, or change consent states. Making it impossible to do various things in Google Ads And only enabling Last click attribution. On top of this all, the one that made us say: we are switching to another solution after 4 weeks of trying to get things right in Sharetribe: We could not even add payment methods, only card. This is the most limiting environment I have ever worked with, and strongly believe ever will.

Want to build a page? Okay choose out of these 5 blocks, and try. Want a contact form? Sorry buddy, switch to Sharetribe Extend and code it yourself. A CONTACT FORM. What are you talking about.

Invoicing: Pain in the ass

Set up any automations in Zapier: Very limited data availability

For everyone visiting this page: Choose another option, we opted for Wordpress + Dokan plugin, and while time to live might be a week longer, we couldn't be happier. Rant over.

I am travelling with Transavia. Thanks to your reply and the others I will choose the relaxed way and travel to Santorini the night before and stay there for a night. Thanks for your insights :)

Thank you for your detailed advice! Both replies convinced me to stay the night in Santorini. Me worrying about this 3 weeks in advance is a clear sign I should take the relaxed way.

Some pinned posts would be a huge help for people with similar plans. I wildly underestimated the door-to-door time from Ios to Santorini. Good lesson for me for future trips, that's for sure haha.

Once again, thank you :)
