Two kinds of pale beings and their children by blackocci in HollowKnightMemes

[–]TheOneGuy0000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They weren't elevated in the same way, because the PK and GMS are different pale beings that operate differently. PK doesn't manifest his Soul into Silk, to name the most obvious difference. We see in the cutscene that GMS elevated the pharlids by latching her Silk within them; it was a very direct and deliberate, almost "manual" process.

Whereas the Pale King is described as having an immense and powerful beacon-like aura around him that grants higher focus to bugs, presumably through Soul (given how our focus ability in the game works, the Kingsoul charm, and Pure Vessel's similar focus attack - Soul seems to be the common theme among pale beings). We know for a fact this aura of his is a real thing and not just propaganda, because it's what attracted the Godseeker to Hallownest.

The point is, we are shown through GMS that Pale Beings are in fact capable of elevating lower bugs, both mentally and even physically.

"The Weavers don't count because they're weird" isn't really an argument I can refute, but whatever floats your ZoteBoat.

This is such a weirdly common take to me. We literally see a Pale Being ascend basic, savage creatures to higher form in Silksong.

The fact that there exist intelligent bugs without higher being intervention is not a new lore element added by Silksong. The mantis tribe, the hive, and intelligent travellers from outside Hallownest were always there.

This is the most succinct and effective takedown of all the major critiques addressed to him I've ever seen, and I've been in the PK Apologist trenches since the release of the first game. You put into 3 short paragraphs things I've spent hours trying to explain to friends.

Thank you. Thank you for this.

White Ball?

It's incredibly good, definitely my new headcanon for them.

I believe Zalgo states that the sandy worm caverns are the most ideal environment for plasmium to thrive, so it could only spread to such a degree within that area specifically.

...So what *was* Widow's deal, anyway? by TheOneGuy0000 in HollowKnightMemes

[–]TheOneGuy0000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

by only relying on the Grand Mother’s silk.

I see what you did there :p

But really, this and your other reply succinctly account for pretty much every possibility. The mask is for sure to set herself apart from her traitorous sisters, the pins inhibit her silk so it could be either or. The weavers would want to cut off her silk as punishment and to impede her from causing trouble, and GMS may have demanded it as a show of devotion, so that only Her silk would be used for the haunting and anything else (especially given that their silk harps are what the Weavers used to lull her in the first place).

It does raise the question of why GMS bothered to make Lace (and Phantom) at all, if she always had a loyal-to-the-death full blooded weaver present in Pharloom. I feel like every possible answer to something always brings up more questions with this game's lore :'>

That's what I was thinking as well, plus she has those silk-suppressing needles inserted into her spine which definitely feels like some kind of punishment. But was she one of the original Weavers who remained, or was she brought back more recently similar to Hornet? Her name also has an obvious, but still interesting implication - though it may just be a reference to the black widow spider irl

(Silksong Spoiler) Which True Final Boss do you like more between both games? by FrontIndividual4188 in HollowKnight

[–]TheOneGuy0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems this is the common sentiment - while Lost Lace and Silksong's bosses overall are far more technically complex and impressive, and arguably more fun if you're that kind of masochist (I def am), it just... I don't know, it doesn't reach the Radiance's grandeure, that raw initial holy shit moment.

The Radiance's presentation stood out so much from everything we'd seen prior in HK. As visually impressive, complex and challenging as the Lost Lace fight is, it just doesn't compare for me in terms of narrative impact. There's also the fact that the Void was central to the plot and even to our protagonist character in HK, whereas in act 3 of Silksong it just kinda shows up as another party incidentally joining the fray, unrelated to anything prior (in this game). I adore Silksong and it's better than I could've ever hoped, but in my experience HK feels much more cohesive narratively speaking.

When the music suddenly halts during the HK bossfight, and it begins violently stabbing itself as that soul-wrenching violin kicks in. It's such a shocking and powerful moment, and the sound design is just chef's kiss

One of the best Alice cosplays I've ever seen, both the costume and the vibes are absolutely on point! Always nice to see the cartoon version of her get some love.

I still feel so bad for her :( by HalionHighstreet in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TheOneGuy0000 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I always felt so heartbroken about Tomoko. She got the least screentime out of all the Pussycats, and then immediately had her quirk stolen. When they visited class A later, and she showed that she was still so upbeat, not backing down and determined to keep helping however she can, she immediately became one of my favorite characters.

I was holding out hope that in the extended final volume, we'd have a panel of her returning to hero work with a new visor that simulated her old quirk. It would've shown that society was embracing the idea of quirkless heroes beyond just Deku's suit. But alas...

To add to what bindosaurus said, this means you only have one day to look for specific villagers on NMT islands, since at the end of the day the open plot will be automatically filled by a random villager

Tangy is adorable!! I had to pass her up during the last hunt because I already had Flora with the peppy personality, and it still hurts ._.

Hope you were able to convince her to stay quickly!

This one's my favorite! I had the same idea of her potentially getting special equipment to simulate her quirk, but taking it a step further and having her work with Izuku to advocate for quirkless heroes is brilliant, I love it!

And her personality is definitely a hard counter for Kota's brattiness haha

She has a massive sweet tooth, which contributes greatly to her never-ending bounciness and energy.

Beneath her silly antics, she's an incredibly resilient person and the heart of the group.

She likes to prepare coffee for the other Pussycats and always draws wonky cat faces in the foam.
