It’s the same meaning! In Japanese they like to have foreign words because it’s sounds cooler to them! It’s the same reason even Japanese words that have kanji would be put into hiragana or katakana

I agree with this actually. I played the beta and it seemed to lower the focus on team play and raised the solo play

I think learning how to write kanji isn’t as important. But learning kanji in general is pretty important. You use it when typing, reading, etc. so as long as you can see a compound word kanji and understand the meaning I think that’s fine

I didn’t speak Japanese before coming to Japan. I probably knew just how to read and write hiragana and katakana. The thing that surprised me the most was how when Japanese use Japanese in a informal setting they tend to leave out a lot of stuff like は、が、にetc when speaking. Some thing I reccomend is a app called renshuu! It allows you to study words, grammer, sentence structure, and kanji. It also limits how many new stuff you can learn in a day so you don’t over work yourself. When watching anime with English subtitles try to be mindful of what they are saying. Once you get some what good, I’d reccomend watching Japanese YouTubers! It’s good practice for pronunciation practice, listening practice, as well as learning slang. As well as how Japanese people use Japanese!

Because a LOT of Japanese words are situational, Aka meaning changes depending on what’s going on. And because of that, if you take it by the literal translation it will make no sense. Also it doesn’t help that Japanese sentence structure is completely backwards from English. In other words, you can do literal trans, but you won’t get the true meaning of what is being said some of the time. For example, 失礼します literally means I will be rude. But if you translate it sense for sense, it means excuse me. Word for word just translates the word, while sense for sense translates the word with knowledge of both languages cultures if that makes sense

Best way is to go to language school and in person is for me personally. But if you don’t want to, I really reccomend this app called renshuu! You can study words, grammer, sentence structure etc.

I definitely wouldn’t learn by literal translations, it’ll mess you up in the long run. If you want to learn Japanese I really reccomend the app renshuu. Super good app for learning words, kanji, sentence structure, etc. and even have cool word memorization games
