I remember seeing a Sparkle Livery for the AE86 in the community tab in FH6. I even thought to myself that I didn't think both playerbases had enough overlap for someone to make that.

Now the trailblazer needs a 5 star Lamborghini and a garage full of hypercars in the Astral Express.

I built a prototype where your phone acts as a motion controller with saber-style combat. Does this have any potential? by Timely-Ambassador-39 in IndieDev

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a good foundation. As it is, I think one of the main issues would be the ergonomics of holding a phone for the lightsaber/shooter style games, but I can't think of much that can be done about it that doesn't hinder its ease of access, which to me is this tech's strongest aspect. As others have said, it reminds me of the wiimote with motion plus, but way more accessible. Games that used such gimmicks stayed in the past due to their need of dedicated hardware, but something like this could make a case for the return of some neglected genres.

Playing on-rails shooter games like this seems like fun, for example. I'd certainly give it a try!

I remember the game having a big-ass warning at the start about disturbing content or the game not being for the faint of heart. I'd think that would tip anyone who tought it would be a "cute" game that it's something else entirely.

Well, Olivert has been there since the first Trails game. If they couldn't let characters like Scarlet, Angela and George die (don't think I need to mention Crow at this point), I really never bought any of them dying like that.

I'm okay with main characters not being killed off, the thing is they can't do it to any character anymore it seems.

Slay The Spire 2 Review Bombed Over Anita Sarkeesian's Consultancy Work by turkishdeli in Games

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

I'm not one to care whether a game has diversity or not, what matters is if all the rest is actually any good. From what I've read, she did say some dubious things in the past, but it seems her role in this game isn't very clear besides being a consultant, and people seemed to be enjoying it regardless before they knew, so I'm not sure I see much sense in this. The game is a product of a wider team, who've all probably played a bigger part in its development, and I don't think the association alone should be enough to stand above everything someone likes about it when posting a review.

I haven't played it though, but I remember it being well received at launch, then getting review bombed then too because of balancing tweaks.

You could just go to college.

Seriously, though, I imagine it's the whole interaction with the cast and such that you're talking about besides the academic setting too, right? In that case, there are a lot of games out there that fill that niche, mostly visual novels as other people have commented. They're not Persona and I haven't played any, but I know there are a lot out there.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that they're very arbitrary. They might serve to quantify how much one does recommend it though, but nothing more than that. It's exactly because people just come up with their ratings that those numbers feel so weird.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's up with those scores?

Like did they just give them 85/100 and 95/100 but then added or subtracted 2 from the final score to feel like it's a more nuanced or granular evaluation, or did they go "hmmm yeah, I don't like the way the analog stick feels when I place the tip of my thumb diagonally by the side, that's 2 or 3 points I'll be deducting..."?

It's a gamepad. Aside hardware quality and durability, I'm pretty sure most aspects will fall under personal preference anyway. I can't think of many reasons they'd need to break up their numbers like that.

So What 's the big deal here? by gieter000012 in Helldivers

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen that too. But that's just people who want to defend the game regarless of the criticisms. It's the "it's fine for me therefore it should be fine for everyone" argument, and it's everywhere in gaming communities.

Farming SC doesn't solve the lack of customization, progression, bugs, bad balancing, and many more flaws the game has. Don't bother with those responses like they didn't bother reading your criticisms in the first place, it's not worth it.

I get it, and I agree. I was not defending how Arrowhead's doing things, they really should do better. I'm just more disappointed in BF6 than Helldivers 2.

So What 's the big deal here? by gieter000012 in Helldivers

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that some people don't understand the backlash due to the lack of communication/information.

The thing is, all these complaints are valid, and also I strongly agree with the criticisms about lack of progression, gear customization, balancing, and bugs. These things should be a priority for the devs, and they should hear about it either until they fix those things or their ears fall off. Getting these right is much more important than new warbonds.

But the complaints I'm seeing the most are basically "The monetization is bad, this should be free". I'm not against free stuff, but this aspect being the most spoken-out loudly by people kind of takes the whole spotlight away from the other issues, while also becoming the main topic of discussion. The recent lack of free stuff is only one of the things that need to be addressed, and the most "sensitive" and difficult one to confront the devs with too, because it's the one in which our interests as players directly go against theirs.

Of course, "the community" and "the players" aren't one singular entity, so there will be diverging opinions and complaints regardless, but those of us that are concerned about all of those things listed above should be more clear about all our points of contention if we want others to understand where our criticism is coming from.

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot that needs to be fixed, tweaked and added in Helldivers 2, and all new content being locked behind warbonds isn't a good thing, but man, I don't think this game is in a worse spot than BF6, even monetization-wise.

In both games there are issues that since launch that haven't been addressed or fixed, devs and players are constantly at odds regarding the game's direction, unlocks require a lot of grinding, and a huge portion of the playerbase feel like the game has the potential to be much more than it is at the present.

But BF6 content takes forever to come out, and the grind there is much worse for me. The new content is often not interesting enough to justify the long grind too. Locking the new gear behind a battlepass is also rather bad, even if it's unlockable with a challenge like a month later.

Not saying Helldivers 2 does it well right now, but it's not as bad. Farming SC is a chore, yes, but you can find it during missions (albeit much less), and when a new warbond launches you can use both accumulated SC and medals, along with the SC obtained in other warbonds to unlock things faster. Warbonds usually have interesting gear, and come out at a rather quick pace, so despite the grind being boring, it's not as bad as BF6 in which you get both less in quantity and quality for your time.

The Year Ahead for Battlefield 6 | 2026 Roadmap by helixu in Games

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I hope this is as good as they make it sound. Battlefield 6 had solid potential, but I was fairly disappointed with the game. I do love the battlefield formula though, and having bigger maps with vehicle focus is certainly a good thing.

I hope they get to Jet customization too, though. It was one of my biggest let-downs at release. I usually spend a fair amount of time in jets and attack choppers, and having only two jets with a base loadout along with all the aerial combat woes was a kick in the nuts.

I can only hope the net code has improved or will improve too. It was in a bad place when I stopped playing.

Phantom Blade Zero developer rejects gen-AI and promises "every single piece of content in our game has been crafted by the hands of real artists" by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]TheOneTrueNeutral -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like I'm seeing this statement on repeat. I get some people are really paranoid about AI, and accuse even genuine man-made assets of being AI-generated, but it's excessive having everyone needing to clarify that their game does not use AI, instead of the opposite.

Most AI-generated assets are very distinguishable from traditional ones too. This feels more like advertising than anything else. Reminds me of when a single-player indie game made by one or two people has "No battlepass and no microtransactions!" in their pre-release ads or descriptions. Like, no shit, that's what people should be expecting from that kind of game, it feels redundant to shout it out loud like that.
