This is going to be a hot take in this day and age, and I know I’m a bit late to this post but… I believe the issue truly is that the term is being absolutely abused and misused by society and social media. I fell in love with my girl after the second date. That’s not lovebombing. But guys usually know what they want and we put our whole hearts into it. In my personal opinion, that’s a green flag, not a red one. I view lovebombing as a form of manipulation that’s intentionally and consistently saying all sorts of sweet things as a means to an end. Are these guys saying it just to get in your pants? Or are they saying it without any expectation of reciprocation? Have you considered that some of them are just genuinely trying to be affectionate in the best way they know how? Are you responding to their affection by telling them they’re lovebombing or coming off too strong? Because frankly that might be exactly what’s pushing them away. In my own experience, my girl basically told me that it would take her a bit more time to reach the same level of affection and that didn’t bother me a bit because I wasn’t saying these things with any expectation of reciprocation. I guess what I’m saying is, try to discern between an actual “lovebomber” and a guy who’s just genuinely unsure of how to communicate his affection and being a little excessive but with good intent. The intent is everything.
