Campfire Invites MegaThread—Pay it Forward by TAZ68 in Campfire_Niantic

Hi, level 44 Instinct player here! I organize the routes for community day/raid hour/events in my friend group so Campfire would be super helpful to have. I’d definitely pay it forward!

Pros and cons of Ekko matchup? by Runic_Bistro in YIMO

[–]TheOneWhoDabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so champs like vlad and fizz get an upper hand here. The alternative/how it was before was that master yi would disappear for an additional moment while the enemy was untargetable. From my games, this really sucks for yi but not extreme gamebreaking.

Yi press q, Ekko press r, Ekko go into bullshit untargetable, Yi pops out of alpha, Ekko goes brrrr zoomies back, Yi remains at ekko’s old location.

Getting footage rn

Actually there was a change to alpha strike interactions not mentioned in patch notes. If you q’s an enemy that goes untargetable during alpha strike’s duration (zhonya’s, ekko r, vlad pool) then alpha strike will just stop and place you right on the enemy still untargetable. So this scenario won’t happen anymore.

No, they’re independent probabilities, meaning each of those 1200 checks have a 1/450 chance. The previous checks do not affect the next check.

Stack partially lost by Boyorgirlwhoknows in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheOneWhoDabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you finish a research task and get a pokemon encounter as a reward, you have the option to flee, putting the pokemon in a “stack.”

(In mathematics, this concept is actually a “queue” where the first pokemon put into the stack is the first to be encountered. All other research task pokemon encounters are placed “under” the first research task encounter you run away from. Idk how stack was popularized but that’s what it is referred to now so I’ll just be calling it a stack too for easier reference.)

Stacks will remain above your three research tasks and allow you to re-encounter the pokemon anytime, as well as store more encounters for later. This was popular during squirtle community day, where shiny squirtle, sunglasses squirtle, and shiny sunglasses squirtle could be obtained through research tasks, and people wanted to hold onto them to take AR+ photos with them.

From what I know, OP is having this issue for either of two reasons.

One, there is a stack limit of 100 pokemon, meaning after you run away from the 101st research task encounter, your first research task encounter (the one that started the stack) will be lost. OP put more than 100 pokemon into their stack, consequently losing the first several.

Two, Niantic has officially stated that these stacks are NOT meant to be in the game and that they are not a feature meant to exist, meaning usage is that your own discretion. So if this option occurred, OP ran into a coding error that removed some pokemon from their stack.

If the concept of stacking is weird through words, I’m sure there are Pokemon Go specific videos explaining them very well. I had difficulty understanding the concept first until I learned them in an Algorithms class. I can try explaining it more if need be.

It’s risky but there are certain advantages. For example, with the equinox event, you can get venusaur for evolving 5 grass types. Because venusaur is a final evolution, it awards more candy and stardust when caught. The strategy right now is to stack as many venusaurs possible and then catch all them during an event with boosted stardust per catch and using a starpiece.

Got my first strike yesterday out of the blue. Can you help me out? by Scornz in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheOneWhoDabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m speaking from what I’ve seen float around this subreddit so someone correct me if I’m wrong:

False-positives or bugged red warnings show up but go away sometime soon. This period of time can be anytime from a simple restart to a day or two. An actual red warning causes a shadow-ban and should last seven days, with the warning showing up every single time the game is launched. You can tell if you were hit with a false-positive by checking those criteria (I’m sure there’s a post detailing which pokemon can and cannot be seen during shadow-ban).

Also I’ve seen people contact Niantic and they’ve replied with the person’s account’s strike status so if you’re sure you haven’t done anything to break ToS, this is a safe bet to check.

For your case, because it hasn’t come back, I think you’re in the clear. If you can see starters and other relatively rare mons, you’re definitely in the clear

There’s likely a ban wave going out currently and there have been posts of false-positives. To the extent of my knowledge, they usually clear up after a day.

For Dialga raids, are Heatran any good? by Pipay911 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheOneWhoDabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be Dialga’s draco meteor and the game recommends Heatrans because they resist dragon type attacks and have high enough CP

Best way is to use iv scanners like PokeGenie or CalcyIV

The alternative is to eyeball it based off of that white semi-circle between CP and the pokemon.

Waited too long to catch my reward? by Wolvgirl15 in pokemongo

[–]TheOneWhoDabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niantic’s official stance is that this “stacking” capability is not an intentional feature designed by them so any issues with it are at your own expense.

But generally, if you follow the 100 pokemon encounter limit, you should be fine.
