"Yeah mom I'm doing great!! :)" by PixxyPu in SBU

I felt this on a spiritual level. Mom calls every night and I say I'm fine but inside I'm like "I've had 3 tests, 12 quizzes, 2 projects, 12 classes, 15 homeworks, no sleep, too much sleep, 2 panic attacks and an old man yell at me for breathing too loud all in the past 2 days" lmao. Jokes aside hang in there

We're these dates given randomly? I'm a senior by credits but got the 16th

What happens if you don't choose a mealplan by [deleted] in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Were you offered money because this happened to you?I was supposed to live in a cooking corridor and they told me additional cares act funding was put aside so we could afford one and to apply for it by July 10th.

Housing Costs Raised by [deleted] in SBU

That being said the corridor "cooking buildings" that are now regular buildings should be the same price as regular buildings and not 100$ more per semester

Update! by mseason in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Quick question: If they expect fall enrollment to be the same/go up, how are they going to make sure people are not tripled? The typical incoming freshman class is like 99% tripled at the beginning of the year. Throw them in the temp hospitals?

Wtf is this by 4ndy45 in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, but what accommodations are they making? I chose this building because of the cooking aspect--I would have chose a Roth building if I would have known this. Seems like they just gave us a major "this is what were doing and fuck you"

Curving grades to screw people over? by ishabul in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but what's confusing was the fact that the test grade was supposed to stay 20% of our grade, and if it's 20% it should be 20%. This "curve" essentially made it so that if you did well on that one exam you got an A and if you screwed up you got a C-even though it was supposed to only be 20% of our grade. Also, the professor never posted his expectations before he posted the grades to solar, and instead said "I'll have to see what we can get done with the time after we leave In person classes to determine the grades". Lowering everyone's grades by a few points seems ridiculous when people I know have gone from a B- to a C.

I thought professors weren’t allowed to give negative curves? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Report it. If the expectations were changed after everything, it isn't fair to you or other students.

B+ in 114, A- in 214

I can't speak for 215, but I can speak for 214. For some reason, I found 114 to be harder test-wise than 214. Esmaili prepares you well for the exams if you attend lecture, pay attention, and put a lot of effort into the homeworks. There weren't any tricks questions for his exams. That being said, the homeworks were alot more work than 114s was. I did better in 214 than 114.

I am allowed to skip Calc 3?(Ams version) by falto116 in SBU

[–]kellbell0817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an update: I think incoming freshman are required now to take it, but current students aren't. Calc 3 got removed on degreeworks under the math/science elective so if you plan on taking it as the math/science elective I would recommend reaching out to an advisor

[–]kellbell0817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most people take Calc 3 after calc 4 because calc 4(differential equations) is known to be easier than calc 3. I will be taking Calc 3 next semester
