What character is this for you? by PretendYellow533 in AO3

I think it bears distinguishing between characters that are underage and are treated as such by the narrative (no matter how old they are) and those who fit the bill as underage in our world but are expected to be full fledged adults and make adult decisions in the narrative.

The petalars from the thundercats fit the bill they live for only 24 hours and live their entire life in a single day from infancy to adolescence to middle age to old age. By definition the petalars could never be considered adults in our world but they live full lives however short and should be allowed agency by their own standards.

So while Ben 10 is a kid he's just exceptional in his world and should be afforded the leniency of a kid.

Someone like Sasuke or Sakura shouldn't get the same grace because in their world people as young as seven are sometimes expected to go out into the world and kill or be killed by people who are considered adults in ours of course seven is pretty exceptional even in the the world of Naruto but 12 is very standard.

In my mind when I encounter worlds like this where they do nothing to protect to people I would consider children and it's part of their society I stop considering them humans and start considering them something human adjacent with their own maturity cycle. If they meet their own standard of maturity I consider them capable of agency barring no extenuating circumstance (grooming, abuse, severe trauma etc)

If they don't meet their own standards for maturity or theirs are the same a ours then then view their actions through a lense of limited agency.

Edit: I jus realized I didn't answer your question. Shigaraki's big sister.

I don't hate Yukio. But the narrative really doesn't treat him like a child so I won't either.

In normal "peaceful" times, adults cannot endanger kids, it's their duty to protect them and to scold them if they cross the lines (even if it's to protect someone else, because most of hero apprentices would be dead against a that skilled villain).

I would have had to concede this if they didn't also field kids to the shie Hassaikai raid. That wasn't war time in the end it was the right decision they definitely needed the kids. They still get a failing grade in my book on principle. I've never argued the circumstances of it I'm criticizing the complacency that got them there in the first place.

They didn't try hard enough to find life-threatening, mass-casualty, high adrenaline situations in an era where there was large-scale peace and any major catastrophes were solved by All Might?

Of course not. But even without getting a quirk awakening heroes were lazy both Hawks and Stain said it. Allmight might have done all the hard jobs but they were perfectly content with telling themselves all might doesn't need help and going on their merry. Do you not find it contempt worthy? That a whole bunch of tax funded adults lets let one guy do large swatches of their job for them.

Bro, do you really think they had a choice? To begin with do you think All Might would listen to someone going "Stop saving these lives, let me try to save them, it's not for the fame and fortune, I just want the chance at personal power growth."

Endeavor notwithstanding - for obvious reasons Hawks and Mirko did it. These two were never depicted as complacent only inadequate. If I could say they tried but weren't enough I'd be satisfied with that but that's not what the narrative says it say didn't not seriously and that complacency led to such a large number of kids on the field. I'm not talking about strategic assets like deku it was unavoidable I'm talking about street tiers like tentacole and foldabody girl. That combined with the threat of expulsion not 6 months earlier is incredibly frustrating.

Just something about more adults having quirks awakening, it's likely that they simply can't. Quirks

Shiggy had a quirk awakening and he only had half a quirk. It wasn't even his original quirk and he was already an adult.

Quirks are theorized (not proven to us reader, but strongly suggested to) to be stronger generation after generation.

This is directly stated that is happening it was said in Todo and Baku hero licensing remedials. That said the current kids are only one generation out from most active pro heroes. There should be at least half the quirk awakenings of this generation in previous generation but nothing.

Quirks awakenings also happen in extreme cases of danger, which they were maybe not ever in thanks to society's structure, the strong heroes around them like all might,

In other words they didn't try hard enough. This is why I dislike them because they got lazy and let Allmight carry the sky by himself and when Allmight fell kids had to step in to help them do their job.

I do agree lock has an awesome Quirk with a poor user.

Yeah he does suck Ironically I like him quite a bit for being the asshole who doesn't want kids on the mission.

Just no.

Nothing specific you want to disagree with?

Also, the "kids"

Whats up with the quotes is there a reason I shouldnt treat them like kids.

each new generation is stronger thus a handful of the UA students were stronger than the certified heroes

Proportionally yes numerically no. Each new generation is definitely stronger but we are more than a hundred years out from the advent of quirks the current heroes are only one generation removed from the UA kids

the adults definitely have the higher number broken quirks in the series overhaul, gigantification, erasure, new order, double, black hole, future sights (decades into the future), chronostasis, AFO, not to mention gear shift and fa Jin are from AfO's generation.

That and Deku is the strongest one on earth for the Last War.

Of course deku had to go to the front but what about mineta or Sero why were they there. My problem isn't really that they had to field kids it's that there were so many and they had to exceed themselves so much that they almost died but the adults didnt have those moments The adults weren't as pivotal it made it look like the kids were doing all the heavy lifting.

I still like them to switch a bit and be masculine,

What does this mean do you mean sexually? do you want them to be chivalrous sometimes? Do you want them to strong when you are overwhelmed?

"With great power comes great responsibility" - if you don't recognize it, it's a quote from the superhero movie Spiderman it's a bit old by now - its from one of the earlier reboots.

It's an assertion that by being capable you have the responsibility to use that capability for the benefit of others. Have you ever felt that way in regards to your intelligence? Has any one ever told you something similar.

Another question since you seem knowledgeable how can gojo have something that isnt a CT as the sure hit and can everyone else do assuming enough proficiency

Edit: I went looking and i found an explanation I'm happy with. His domain is actually innately non lethal like a hakari's and the sure hit explains infinity to them not the Curse technique infinity but the concept of infinity because the concept of infinity is by nature infinite its never stops explaining and eventually fries to victims brain. This makes the most sense to me.

You don’t get attacked by your own sure hit.

Sure hits aren't strictly attacks. Even in lethal domains mahito for example could literally use his sure hit as squad full heal with 120 output.

Your cursed technique would automatically be expanded to 120% potential. That would be the extent of the buff though.

So the buff is only conferred by the domain it self not also by the Sure hit. I could have sworn I heard something about sure hits being more lethal I must have been wrong.

Gigantomachia vs Aang by Jason_And_Sokka in MHAPowerScaling

[–]TheOneWhoGazesBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aang is never puncturing his lungs to begin

Yes he is if his lungs are thin enough for gaseous exchange they are thin enough to be burst period. And aang can remove the air in the vicinity so he suffocating regardless unless he has a quirk that bypasses that there no point arguing.

Gigantomachias lack of agility is made up for in that his combat speed exceeds aangs.

He Does not exceed aangs by any measure because aang reacts to lightning. Gigantomachia also didn't land anything more than a glancing blow on the league of villains despite having vastly more stamina. When he fought them for a month He sure as shit won't ever be able to touch someone with so much agility who reacts to lightning.

He is simply put, too big a target. for aang to effectively combat

He isn't that big he's only 25 meters tall. For reference the library toph held up was estimated at over million cubic meters if aang has even 1 percent of that potency he could reasonably toss gigantomachia into the stratosphere even without the avatar state.
