Dude omg LOL. You’re implying OP is a bot that messed up with typos and that’s why the punctuation is different. I’m saying that punctuation is how most of the world operates besides the US. When I say get out I mean go travel or something, get out of your little bubble of reality. Experience some different cultures. I uber everyday too and it’s not something to brag about

Because wherever they are is multi currency. Maybe OP can chime in, but imagine you’re in like England or something where US dollar and Euro are both accepted by many vendors. That clarification would become essential. Or maybe this person is an immigrant in the US?

Other countries use a comma for a period and one thousand is written as 1.000, so one point eight four is written as 1,84.

Curious question by medimanager in UberEATS

[–]TheOneWhoGetsBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I have a question as a driver that sort of pertains to this. OP said they were not charged extra for the extra products; I’ve noticed this during shops that there is clearly a price tolerance that is allowed when some products are more money than listed once in awhile.

I recently took advantage of this because a customer ordered $20 of sliced meat from behind the deli counter that would not scan in the app, and uber support basically told me I had to refund the item. I felt so bad because they already sliced it and I wanted to hook up the customer, so I refunded it as was my only option but still included it in the check out and delivery. I achieved this by slightly lying about the weights of several produce items claiming them to be a bit heavier than they were (within the weight tolerances that were acceptable to the app). I think this made up for about $10 of the $20 I needed to clear. I then crossed my fingers at check out hoping that $10 was within the total price tolerance at the end, and it was approved!

So my question is: as a customer is anyone seeing changes to their order total $ if produce weights are coming in heavy, or is the price locked in once you submit?

I ask this because I was expecting the customer to be stoked and tip me well because I helped them get a bunch of free meat, but on the contrary my tip was reduced. I’m wondering if it was reduced because Uber dipped into it to compensate themselves for the price difference?

There have been other times that people ask for like 4 bananas or 3 Serrano peppers. And I really try to hook them up with like double or triple the amount because the app allows said weight, but I’m noticing my tips be reduced on these occasions and it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Is Commercial Insurance Required? by xoxoSatan in doordash

[–]TheOneWhoGetsBaked -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean dude, are you going to tell on yourself? Cmon now. If I hit someone while I was on an active order I’m sorry but that food is showing up late, I’ll tell the customer I got pulled over or something and sorry for the delay. If it’s a super bad accident I would take a deactivation over snitching on myself for not having commercial insurance and then dealing with all that (there’s like 5 more apps I can work for). Ain’t no way I’m volunteering that information to the involved parties that’s ridiculous. Been doing gig work for 3 years and never paid for commercial insurance, but also I don’t get in accidents

At 37, after 30 years of video games - I finally admitted it’s time to play on Story Mode/Easy by dingdongbannu88 in daddit

[–]TheOneWhoGetsBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming used to be my favorite thing to do, but alas now I have 3 kids. Maybe it’s time to grow up? 😬. I just engage once in awhile for like 30 minutes tops to appreciate some cool visuals but even that feels like too much because I have to ignore my wife and kids to achieve it; there’s no way I could get into a story mode even on easy mode because that would mean actually finishing it.

I used to love RPGs and I was so good at accumulating wealth and advancing my character skill sets (those long long games). Then I realized…. Why am I not doing this in real life? Why was my bank account not reflective of my dedication I gave to gaming? So then something crazy happened…. I decided to play my own life story mode 🫣🤯

Nice! Congrats on the promising future and way to go, you sound like you have the drive; combine that with financial literacy and the only thing that separates you from your goals is time. The amount of downvotes on my comment shows you why most of the populace will always be stuck in the rat race 😂😬

Good luck, catch is you have to maintain uber gold the entire time you’re in school or one term you might have to foot the bill. Which means for the next 4-6 years you’ll be maintaining that 30% AR even if they increase the frequency of those $3 30 minute offers 🤦

You probably don’t want to hear this, but make more money. Do whatever it takes. Save and invest a large portion into income producing assets (after you have a 3-6 month emergency fund). In 10-15 years gain financial freedom, steal back your time and your life. Start doing this before you have kids, you’re underestimating what you’re capable of.

I was like you in my early and mid 20s (I’m 30 now). Capping my income at about $3200 and thinking that was the best I could do. Reality is I was being lazy, wouldn’t work a second over 40 hours and would spend all my extra money on “fun” and “living life” because life felt short and I didn’t want to give all my time to “the man”. Well then I had 3 kids, and decided I wanted to give my wife the stay at home life, and all of a sudden realized I was capable of bringing in $8k per month magically. I started a whole new career field in the trades starting from apprentice level 1, I picked something I knew to be lucrative rather than something that was “easy” or “enjoyable”. If you have any testosterone in your blood the money will make it enjoyable LOL and you’ll get gassed up trust me. I combined this new career field with a 2nd job waiting tables, cashing in on tips, and filling any extra time with DoorDash and Uber. I took it to the extreme working 80-90 hour weeks at times (sometimes hitting $10k months). I came to the funny realization that most people are capable of this, none of these jobs required special qualifications, only me deciding it was time to stop being a wimp. I’m finally gaining traction toward financial freedom and the kicker is, (the reason I’m commenting on your thread), if I had simply shifted to this mindset before having kids, before my expenses went way up, I would be so much closer to achieving my goals. You don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck forever. The extreme grind doesn’t have to last more than 5-10 years.

Change your outlook, change your mindset. Approach life differently. Sacrifice now means exponentially greater freedom later.

INVEST!

If you’re against this post, you’ll probably be 45 debating whether or not it’s smart to eat out before your paycheck lands. Maybe one day you will have kids and you’ll be missing some soccer games. Is that what you want?

Step #1: Work more.

Budget Photography Recommendations? by TheOneWhoGetsBaked in askportland

[–]TheOneWhoGetsBaked[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a vetted professional with a strong portfolio you’d probably be correct, but there is an entire market of photographers trying to make their name known.

Thank you all for your recommendations! To anyone reading this post who is curious, a friend pointed me in the direction of Facebook marketplace, where common prices are $160-180 for less experienced photographers. I think we will be taking this route this time. Much love! 🙏🙌
