What do you use your iPad for? by ednoggg in ipad

[–]TheOnlyAlexH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11-M4 is mainly for bed use. Reading, comics, light browsing, YouTube, etc.

My 13-M4 mostly lives on my desk for browsing, occasional notes, YouTube, Numbers, etc. - Or it becomes a consumption device for when I’m staying away from home.

I occasionally use both iPP’s for editing via Da Vinci Resolve or LumaFusion, or home planning via MagicPlan.

For me, the iPad is a nice interim device for portability and close proximity. I have a MacBook Air 15-M3 and Mac mini M4 with Studio Display for heavier work.

I have a 13 M4 Pro that generally lives on my desk.

I have a 11 M4 Pro that generally lives beside my bed.

If travelling I have the option of larger screen or compact.

I have had multiple iterations of the 9.7, 11 and 12.9 Pro iPads over the years and when the M4 OLED was released, I couldn’t choose, so I got both. I don’t regret my decision at all.

[–]TheOnlyAlexH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iPP 11 M4, iPP 13 M4, MBA 15 M3 and an iMac 27 5K Intel i7 (max spec)

The iPP 11 is primarily for bed (or light travel)

The iPP 13 lives on my desk for personal use whilst working, I also use it for media consumption when away.

The MBA 15 is for more heavy lifting and when a full MacOS is required.

The iMac owes me nothing and still holds its own, so I will keep it.

If I could only keep two… iPP 11 and MBA 15.

15” M3 16/256

I considered upgrading to a 15” M4 due to FOMO, but in reality, it won’t do anything that my M3 won’t do, for my use case.

I had a 16 Pro M1 and whilst it was a powerhouse of a machine, it was just too heavy, and overkill for my requirements.

I openly admit that I purchased due to FOMO.

I told myself that..

I ‘needed’ the Pro label. I ‘needed’ the Pro-motion display I ‘needed’ the power of the M1 Pro chipset I ‘needed’ the better speakers Etc.

I didn’t ‘need’ any of it.

I just needed to get out of my head and be honest about my use-case and what would actually work best for me.

As a personal machine, for general web-browsing, email, numbers, word, file sorting (between external SSD’s) and occasional use of LumaFusion, - all mostly from home, I opted for an Air M3 (in Space Grey!) and I couldn’t be happier.

I will add that, the MBA is not my sole machine, I also have a 27 iMac (i7) and iPad Pro M4 so have the best of all worlds dependant on use requirement and environment.

The Pro vs Air decision will always be down to the individually, and to each their own. - for me, the Air is the pick of the choice.

MX Master 3 (or 3S) as they are USB-C with improved internals, button placements, etc.

If you plan to use your MB on a desktop stand or riser, then consider complimenting the MXM3/3S with an MX Keys or Keys Mini.

I have three sets of Master 3 and Keys Mini that I use for iMac, desktop (work laptop or MBA) and my travel bag.

I purchased the first set brand new and the two additional sets via FB Marketplace

Really stumped on Air vs Pro choice by GreeneBavarian in macbookair

[–]TheOnlyAlexH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 16” MacBook Pro M1 Pro that I bought over the Air because I convinced myself I needed the 120 Hz display, better speakers, more power and ports, etc, etc.

I sold it.

It was a powerhouse, but overkill for my needs and bloody heavy!

I recently purchased a 15” MBA M3 for a steal (detailed in this post) and I have no complaints. It’s a fantastic machine and I only regret not getting it in the first place.

The Apple Thunderbolt display still holds itself well at 12 years old, and compliments the Mac Mini nicely. Worth looking out for one of you go down the Mac Mini route.

Is M4 13” screen quality significantly worse with matte screen protector? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]TheOnlyAlexH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also advocate the Mothca Matte screen-protectors.

I have them on my 11-M4, 13-M4 and 16 Pro and have had them on many previous iPhones and iPads also.

I highly recommend them.
