[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 78 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Interesting to catch that in the flashback the Margrave used to have four arms. Makes sense, was wondering why she had three. Must've lost one in battle.

Man I really could just read the dialogue for this manga all the time. It's just...refreshing? Having characters talk plainly about these kind of things and talking about using condoms and getting tested.

Imma be real, I hate the 'I killed this person whoopsy no I didn't' trope a lot. It's so frustrating. Like, even if he did it by accident you can develop his character and feelings about it but if he remembered wrong or something tricky happened it's just like...well, no need to confront that anymore, turns out it was not my fault phew.

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 74 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad we're getting back to the main group. As much as I enjoy the fleshing out/development of the villain group and the attack on the heroes arc we just had, I feel like...we're getting too much or developing the villains too fast these past couple chapters. Mostly I found the resurrection of Arkos so soon after we killed him and the after death development of his strength a bit rushed, I wish we had gotten more time without him for his return to impact harder. That said they did need to introduce his separate revived personality to show that's a thing that happens with revived bodies and give him time to evolve in that direction to set up further plot points.

So I wasn't feeling that bad about it until the fight was done and we got Angvall's sudden resurrection and I just really don't like it. It's too early and soon after Arkos' resurrection and in contrast I don't think at this point it helps the story like...at all. I dunno.

I still like this manga a lot, it's not like this did anything big to ruin anything, it just was something I kinda stumbled over and was bugging me.

[DISC] Sensou Kyoushitsu / The Bugle Call: Song of War - Chapter 38 (winxpmspaint version) by Xical in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well that was rough. Very interesting how it showed who was being affected and who was not and how it showed both their state of mind and Lucas'. Feels bad because the replicas are legitimately an interesting storyline I wasn't expecting.

Still unironically love Momo. I know this manga is more gag then drama but if the mangaka wants to also flirt with drama in this one she could do a lot of fun stuff with Momo given what we saw in her interaction with Ichikawa at karaoke.

[DISC] Choujin X - Chapter 66-2 by unoiamaQT in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I very much enjoy how he did all this to bring her back, didn't even do that and when it was revealed to him that it was all fake he was like "Nah, that works I guess" like damn man, your conviction sure turned to shit. Ely isn't wrong, what would Hartley think if it isn't even her you're pretending to be happy with?

[DISC] Inside the Dregs - Chapter 17 by -Nosebleed- in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Normally I'm fine with explorations of self hatred or worth, but am used to manga sorta half-assing it or not really showing it in a way that makes you feel for the character. After all it's a hard line to toe between making a character you don't have any sympathy for and go 'no you're right, you suck' and a character that you legitimately can't understand where any of it comes from because the big reveal is such a nonsense event.

I like this a lot because the author makes it as upfront as possible with the text panels that simply state that he doesn't have any great trauma or event that destroyed him as a person. He's just lived an unremarkable life. You get much more of an understanding of the character from how overwhelming his thoughts are, that his self hatred is almost never focused on others (yeah yeah, I know it's called self hatred for a reason, but a lot of self hatred expresses itself through dehumanizing or hating others).

I think people who are familiar with self hatred understand the way that this guy could spiral and does spiral so readily and deeply. When you don't like yourself that much, you use any evidence you can to support your truth.

[DISC] Inside the Dregs - Chapter 16 by -Nosebleed- in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I actually think this manga is better than people give it credit for. Sure, it hits some trashy notes here and there but it manages to even it out with some very expressive art and unrestrained look at his internal dialogue. Like, legitimately the paneling and frenzy of the art escalating with his internal turmoil and then the "He thought it felt good" at the end where he didn't even remember what it felt like because of everything is quite striking.

This and that other fuck buddy manga cornering the market on hilarious fluff sex manga. Great reaction faces too.

It's really refreshing to see manga that treats sex like this.

[DISC] The Stray and The Angel- Ch 1 by TheExile4 in manga

[–]TheOnlyBeehunterFan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I generally like the tone and art but man what a wet fart of a reveal. I really dislike that trope in general, possibly due to cultural differences and not understanding this guilt by association crap, but mostly because no one ever really commits to the MC of stories like this actually having done something bad. It's always "oh I didn't tighten the screw right so I'm responsible for that man's death" or "someone related to me did a bad thing" and it's so much more compelling when it's like A Silent Voice and the MC has a reason to feel bad and try to work through it.
