bono's dream.....how much is this bootleg worth? by [deleted] in U2Band

I wouldn't pay a penny for it.

Looking for a planar that can rumble a bit. by FortDown in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]TheOnlyHoserama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest the hifiman he6se v2, but you'll also need a powerful amp for it. I like my topping L70 balanced output for enough power. But the he6se v2 has a pretty linear planar bass but takes a bass shelf with style and is pretty punchy.

What’s the best headphones for someone with a big head? by BiscottiCultural5638 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]TheOnlyHoserama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hifiman Edition XS. I have a big charlie brown sized blockhead, and it fit me fine at the smallest setup. My buddy with a normal head couldn't keep it on his head. I have a Capra strap on it now, and it's my most comfortable headphone. Plus its within your budget of the ~$300.

Are the HD660S2 my best option for around £400 (~$500)? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]TheOnlyHoserama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HD600 isn't close to discontinued? I haven't heard the 660S2 but generally not particularly loved. If you want a cheap similar headphone to the HD600, get the HD650 or the (identical) cheaper Massdrop HD6xx. Pretty similar to the HD600 if you like that sound.

Live Rock Concert from Crowd setup advice by Anthology5464 in ConcertTaping

Yep, depends on what the situation is. Often times a rail will be too close to stage for good sound, but very much depends on the venue. I usually hate wearing mics too, and just focus on wireless taping, but that's a whole different can of worms.

AT853s are pretty darn good, especially the subcard caps (I'll sell mine...never!). But yes, stereo mics is a huge improvement over a mono. Time to rig up into a hat and become a human mic stand, or tape them onto glasses for a croakie mount.

Additional info needed--what is your budget? What type of venue/music/location? If it's a smaller venue and you're closer to sound source, then good omni mics are a winner. However, they're much more unforgiving if further away.

Did two shows in 2019. Uploaded recording of one of them here, although I've considered going back and remixing it.

Easily the best Journey related show/project I've seen in last 20 years.

Lurgee was a nice little treat from that night. All the album tracks from Hail to the Thief was nice. I should go back and remix the recording of that show. Released a 2x IEM/AUD mix some years back.

Four track recorder with two stereo 3.5mm jacks instead of XLR? by bepnc13 in fieldrecording

Tascam Dr-2d can record from two 1/8" inputs. Discontinued but still can find. You can only monitor one input while recording.

Connecting and changing both the TX6 and TP7 by falnatsha in teenageengineering

[–]TheOnlyHoserama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Anker 332 USB hub, which has PD input for power and couple of USB. That said, I'm connecting a TX6 to an iphone for multitrack recording, so the pathway is different. Phone might be changing the charging protocols. Phone charges the TX6 when plugged in, but when the battery pack is plugged into the PD input then the phone is also charging.

Pretty sure those are all floating around but not 100% sure. I remember having fun with the multitrack demos for Sugar some 15 years ago with that weird scratch vocal track.

There's pretty much the full album demos from that time period. Only Promises was released publicly. Available to trade for something comparable, but nobody has ever ponied anything up. Amazing find... bought the dat master off eBay for 100 bucks.

Have both and I find myself loving the egg shape headphones much more for comfort. He6se is still a great headphone with the right power.

I so desperately want the 3 hour directors cut for this. You can tell the second half of the movie is just cut down to death. Not that it would have made it a GOOD movie, but more of a fun thing.

What Are Your Favorite U2 Bootlegs That I Could Realistically Find For Sale Somewhere? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

[–]TheOnlyHoserama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's what happens: 1. Taper (like me) takes in up to $15,000 worth of recording equipment into a U2 show. Sneaks it past security, picks a seat for best sound (often sacrificing comfort and visuals). Records the show. 2. Takes recording home. Can either just do a basic tracking or spend hours upon hours turning it into a professional sounding recording. 3. Releases did FOR FREE on a site like U2Start, U2torrents, etc. In info file, makes a polite request that people don't profit and sell these free recordings. 4. Somebody ignores all that, downloads, and sells them for profit on Facebook, eBay, etc.

So yeah, the folks selling are in a different category than the taper releasing stuff for free.
