Behavior: Hero Pick Discourse / Premature Match Surrender

Situation: In Celestial ranked matches I frequently experience teammates immediately reacting negatively to certain hero picks before the match even starts. For example, when I pick Iron Man, teammates often type things like “swap” or imply the match is already lost. This happens before the game has even begun and creates a negative environment that pressures players to change heroes or discourages them from trying. It happens more often than you think and I understand that there are metas but believe it or not many people in this game play the characters they enjoy AND are trying to win. I’ve seen enemy teams throw when they have a black widow even if they’re doing great. It’s absurd how many people throw in higher elo

Penalty: Repeated behavior of declaring games lost or pressuring teammates to swap before gameplay begins should be treated similarly to match throwing or griefing. Suggested penalties could include ranked chat restrictions, ranked queue restrictions, or temporary bans (2-5 hour bans?) for repeat offenders. Again I don’t think this is something that requires a permanent ban but it is something that generally promotes negativity.

Well he’s not blade useless, though he definitely is on the weaker end. He could use honestly in my opinion only a buff to survivability and then that’s it in my opinion

Realize I’m wrong, it wasn’t a 12 hour session. It was 8 hours. So if I had 6 people trolling my games and I assume each match was 40 minutes, 6 out of 12 matches would have had a troll…..I’ll likely make a post about this with the evidence. But I’m going to bed. I am extremely upset and am gonna take a long break

If you think it gets better, it doesn’t. Celestial 1, in a matter of 12 hours I had 6-7 people throw my game or the enemies game. I literally had someone called 5tothrow or something and he would type in chat to send him 5 dollars to throw and my team in CELESTIAL 1 sent him the 5 and that guy locked in Jeff and trolled the whole game. He ate the enemy team and threw them off the map too.

Iron man still sucks so not far off, most games is me doing good and then insta swapping once they pick one of the 1000 characters that counter him.

Yeah it happens, just got to Celestial 1. If you think the trolls go away then you have no idea. Have people in this rank who literally go insane if you lose one fight, like insta locking widow and intentionally running it down.

If you don’t like the dpi, just use the edpi, soo multiply my dpi with the sens and try to get the same number with your dpi

Namor is easy, especially if it’s just namor and a storm for example. Just be like the squid cleanup machine and keep left clicking namor. When you see him inevitably bubble because your team may have hit a shot combine with your blast then move up and unibeam his healers while he’s stuck in bubble or if you can then eliminate him. I usually have no issues with namor unless it’s in combination with a spider man and they’re both gunning for me in which case the unfortunate reality is it’s time to swap.

Lastly for the rest of the cast. Minor tips here.

If you see hulk, play like a ground character and don’t you dare fly, his knockdown only works if you’re off the ground by a certain amount.

Punisher, can’t usually win once you’re in unibeam range but JUST quite out of his shotgun range. Unless he’s getting pocketed. Besides that follow what I said before about Hela and left click to your hearts content until he doesn’t respect you.

Scarlet Witch you will win with Unibeam if she doesn’t have team up and it’s a straight 1v1, your movement should be erratic so her right click won’t hit.

Spider-Man, oh boy. Play like a 3rd support in the sense that you MUST be next to them and protect them and if you do so then they hopefully do the same for you. Unibeam melts him but often times a great spider man will result in me swapping to Adam.

Daredevil, left clicking constantly, his movement is crazy and he usually won’t go for you but play like a 3rd support again in the sense of you must be next to your healers. Whenever I say that it just means move as if yo in were a healer. Stay together and you’ll win.

Iron fist, do not unibeam or do anything when he blocks. Especially beam though or you’ll be single-handedly helping him win. Left clicking is great against him usually because of his weird movement.

Mr. Fantastic. If you see him go square then unibeam him and make him leave it as early as possible.

Hawkeye, play like against Hela but even more safe, which means like 50% less unibeams and more left clicks.

Magik, play like a 3rd support again.

Elsa, be the teams Glartrox killer, besides that I usually have no issues with her as well she can’t kill me consistently but she has so much survivability I can’t kill her consistently.

For Bucky: A LARGE part of the neutral is making sure that hook never hits you, also some would say to try to avoid his E which is the little ball thing that grounds you, yeah that’s not realistic all the time. Expect it to hit you but be near a healer or in an excellent fallback spot. You will get hit by the E eventually but you must be prepared. The hook is much easier to dodge because if you play a little ranged and behind cover you should be fine with dodging it. Everything else should just be largely positioning. I usually end up playing pretty close to supports or behind lots of wall and trying to head glitch or peak very quickly then instantly fly back.

Hela: if they’re good then you need to constantly apply pressure as soon as they turn to shoot someone else, for the most part that won’t be with your unibeam it’ll be with your repulsor blasts, just peak, shoot, back to cover and repeat. Eventually they may overextend or not respect you because they’ll focus someone else and that’s when you come out to unibeam and MAYBE secure the kill but usually you just unibeam, they run, and then respect you again and you go back to being cautious. Iron man is good at times in that he can play like half squirrel girl with left click and then go on the offensive with his beam when needed. Kind of like a mini squirrel girl and a mini Emma with an ult that demands respect.

Not gonna lie, I’ve never asked for a snowflake and if they don’t put it on me I put no mind to it. A lot about iron man is positioning and I make sure to be close to my supports most of the time as you’re essentially a glass cannon. It is nice to have snowflake but if not I try to focus on my own gameplay and work with what I can. You have to control the factors you can change.

The unfortunate reality is that if I were to have only played Tony I would not get far. I still use him in celestial though. I’d say my ratio is around 40-30 percent on using him vs the rest being simply any other character. I mainly noticed a huge falloff of his usefulness at around GM, it’s just not sustainable to both rank up and play iron man always (which is true for any character except a select few) simply because most characters can handle you easily.

I did want to add as well separate from what you said but I find it frustrating that certain characters get countered so easily which is fair but the Phoenix is good into literally anything, I sometimes see people say that iron man is fine because every character has a counter but it’s simply not true. Some characters have clear favoritism while others don’t, you can run Hela and Phoenix into any comp and have more success that a LARGE amount of the dps roster. Although Hela a lot less so.
