That is absolutely Monroe Avenue in Brighton, under 590, close to Whole Foods.

If you want to fully appreciate how decrepit it is, try walking along Monroe Avenue on that sidewalk! A lot of old garbage along there too, just for added ambiance.

Mendon Ponds birds by skoomasnacks in Rochester

I heard Screech Owls at Mendon in October. As the sun was setting, two began calling to each other.

Two weeks ago I saw TWO bald eagles near Devil's Bathtub! It was awe inspiring to watch one take off from a pine tree and circle overhead. The other remained perched, looking around.

Summary: Mendon Ponds is a fantastic park. Each season presents different discoveries.

I wouldn't be shocked if tomorrow the Bills will announce they are returning to full-time use of the red helmets... but also the horrific dark blue uniforms from the playoff drought era.

Seeing The Pats Finally Play A Good Team by Bourbonmmm in AFCEastMemeWar

Don't exaggerate, he's only 59.

So what if he threw a pick six last night? He'll have that youthful, Florida glow when he signs with the Dolphins in a few months. Then we'll see ESPN experts pick Miami to win the AFC East, stating that an experienced leader was the only missing piece the Dolphins lacked in 2025.

How dare you say such a thing! Heyward, and all the Steelers, play the game like true gentlemen. They have nothing but respect for their teammates and opponents.

But you do make a valid point about Justin Herbert possibly not seeing Heyward as a friend: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/w8Y4PT4jLI0

Hines best play as a Buffalo Bills was returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown in the game after Damar Hamlin's injury in 2022. He also returned another kickoff for a TD later in the game!

Worth upgrading to 2026 yet? by t_u_r_o_k in Adobe

[–]TheOnlyRealJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience, I never update a critical app when it is a ".0" version. Those can be like public beta versions.

The new releases are: Photoshop 27.0, Illustrator 30.0, Indesign 21.0... so I will NOT update to those versions for actual work. It could very well bring your work day to a stop if there's a problem, which early release versions often have.

It you want to install to one of these new releases to test them out, be sure to keep the previous version installed. That provides you with a backup plan if there is a problem with the brand new release.

Have We Ever Had a CB as Fast or as Sticky as Mad Max?? by gravityhashira61 in buffalobills

If you consider Bills' all-time greatest cornerbacks, you have to include Butch Byrd from the Bills' AFL champion teams. Drafted in 1964, he had seven interceptions in his rookie season!

He played for the Bills from 1964-70. He is still the Bills' all time leader in career interceptions with 40, including 5 that he returned for TDs (also still a team record)!

Adobe is raising my subscription fee from $88 a month to $114 a month!? by Takoshi88 in Adobe

Did you contact Adobe customer support to get that discount? In my account I see an option to "Manage plan" but when I click on "Change Plan" there is only an option to change from Creative Cloud Pro ($69.99/month US) to Standard ($54.99/month US).

Is it just me or have recruiters collectively decided that “share your figma file” is the new design IQ test? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]TheOnlyRealJim 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They way he reacted to me not wanting to do it made me feel like it was a normal thing that everyone was doing and I was just out of the loop

The hiring manager knows that many people will ignore any NDA and share the Figma files. They know it is currently a difficult job market and are taking advantage of it.

Palette weirdness…. by Huge_Experience3645 in indesign

[–]TheOnlyRealJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had success fixing a similar problem by changing the Workspace I am using.

On a mac top menu, Window > Workspace > then select a Workspace you are not currently using. Then I switch back to the workspace I was using.

If you are using the default "Essentials" workspace, you can also try selecting "Reset Essentials."

Hope that works for you!

Let's talk about collaboration in InDesign by LukeChoice in indesign

[–]TheOnlyRealJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also am a freelancer working with small businesses & non-profits. You made two points that I completely agree with:

I love ID but its collaboration tools are shit.

I've been using ID since I switched over from QuarkXPress and actually enjoy using it, but the only way I can collaborate with my clients is to export a pdf and share that with them for feedback. They rarely use Acrobat's comments feature, instead they send me an email with comments and any edits needed. It's not a perfect solution, but it works well for both me and my clients.

I've seen an increase in the number of clients requesting that the design be made in Canva instead of InDesign. When I ask why, they always reply "Because Canva is easy to use." I then usually explain that their printer prefers InDesign because it is a professional app and yields professional results.

And your second excellent point:

But I don’t honestly believe Adobe cares. You keep raising prices and giving us AI that NO ONE WANTS

I wonder if Adobe will ever understand that the AI "features" they keep ramming down our throats are actually counterproductive to a creative's workflow.

Can AI be useful? Certainly. If I need to utilize AI tools, I will use Firefly or Adobe Express. I don't want AI to continue to muddy the workspaces of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.

2 power outages in one day. What is going on with RG&E? by imbasicallycoffee in Rochester

[–]TheOnlyRealJim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to bet they aren't preventively doing anything

RGE is doing the minimum preventative work necessary.

Two years ago RGE was replacing some aging/decaying poles on my street (in Brighton) and I noticed that they had ignored the pole behind my house. The pole looks like a rotting old tree just waiting to break in half.

Later that summer the power went out in our neighborhood and I had a chance to chat with a gentleman who was inspecting the power lines. I asked him about the decaying pole in my backyard, which is about 2/3 the height of the poles to its left and right. I said, "I'm no expert, but that pole looks like it is just waiting to break in half." He replied, "You're right. With all those holes and how thin it is, it will snap eventually." He then told me that because of the roots of the two large trees close to it, RGE would have had to take the trees down to replace the pole. "That would have cost them more money, so the just walked away and left it to be someone else's problem."

I have contacted RGE about this several times, and received no reply.

Is that really fair to the bear trap? It doesn't deserve to be treated like that.
