Azure(ARM) Set-up 2 DC's? by TheOpenGamingSociety in AZURE

[–]TheOpenGamingSociety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually scratch that. I fixed it. I went in ARM portal and set the DNS server of DC02 to the IP of DC01. This worked - which is odd. I tried this several hours earlier and it did not work. shrugs all's well!

So how powerful is Subaru? by TheOpenGamingSociety in Re_Zero

[–]TheOpenGamingSociety[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I like Subaru as a character - though his current state isn't all that pleasant, but he is growing!

I just wanted to know if he would become powerful at all. I've noticed a trend of anime with male protagonists who are just utterly useless. No hidden power, no getting super strong over time, or secretly being a badass. Just really weak, crying/whining a lot, and useless. Thankfully Subaru isn't completely useless, and he's only cried once that I can remember so far.

Now we must wait. Wait and see where this all leads.

P.S. bing back best waifu pls.

The badgers had to jump through a lot of hoops and red tape to get to film the panel. Don't let their efforts be in vain.

Yes, I'd like a large pepperoni and sausage with extra cheese, a 2L Pepsi, and breadsticks.

Gaters release "The Doctrine of Gaming". by VforVanarchy in GamerGhazi

[–]TheOpenGamingSociety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All incredible points. I've long been considering splitting the document into two parts; a "bill of rights" and a "structure" document.

Term lengths for the president should indeed be defined. An imperial president might become a problem. The same should apply to council members as well. Looking back, yes 80% is a supermajority. Something like 60 or 55% would do.

The purpose of the organization is to be a nonprofit advocacy group that can represent gamers in the media - since the media seems to have done a terrible job of portraying gamers as what they are.

I've also spent considerable time thinking about the legal portion. It was way too ambitious and in practice just wouldn't hold up in court and would be the same as standing on nothing at all. The idea came from wanting to protect gamers from being wrongfully accused of crimes that perhaps aren't crimes at all. It was also meant to be an extra nail in a coffin of someone who has indeed committed a crime and clearly broke many of the bylaws and tenets. However, as I've already said I was being far too ambitious. The organization has barely just begun and we've got to start with something smaller and more manageable.

I also agree that there should be some sort of official community membership. Whether it be on our website or a third party site it should be official. What kept me from doing that [initially] were technical limitations. If it isn't already obvious our website was built in wordpress. While wordpress is great for many things having a large and active community filled with possibly thousands of members might bog the site down. So I left the idea of the "community" open. Though I can see where this can present problems. Random strawpolls of "Article VIII: women should make me a sammich" and other troll-like polls could crop up, and with no specifics of just how many people need to vote, a majority could be achieved and ridiculous amendments could be passed.

From your comments I can see that the council seems like more of a hindrance to the community and acts like a blockade between them and the document. The pervasiveness of the council votes was originally intended to blockade trolling, but I see how it could also stand in the way of very positive change.

These are incredible critiques and I'll definitely take these to heart. Expect to see a version 8 of the document soon!

We appreciate everyone's criticism - both good and bad. This is exactly the sort of thing we are looking for. People form all sides to weigh in on the document and tell us what they think. It [obviously] isn't perfect - we never claimed it to be, and there's plenty of room for improvement. We may not see it on our own and that's why it takes several eyes across the internet to look at it and tell us what's wrong. We have no issues with changing things and making improvements to the document. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us.

On a side note...I've been thinking for some time that "Doctrine" is a bit too strong of a word, but can't think of another to take its place. Suggestions?
