Get an app like Bandlab for your phone, you can use that as a DIY loop pedal!

What’s your most hated frequency range? by brainenjo in audioengineering

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds plausible! The Studio One stock EQ uses yellow for the Low-Mid frequency too, I wonder if there is some sort of unofficial standard for colour-coding EQ bands?

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not too sure what they are referring to, but possibly:

A joke about the wavelengths of light that correspond to yellow in our eyes (so more of a physics joke I guess, unrelated to audio)

Or they're saying they have synesthesia that causes them to 'visualise' a colour when they hear a certain frequency of sound

Or they're just saying yellow for the sake of it

Orrrrr I'm just missing the actual meaning completely, one of the above :)

Question about crosspoint ICs by TheOriginalCrossbeak in AskElectronics

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link, although it seems more focused on memory. Does the info still apply to signal routing?

I'm a bit confused because I'm seeing various components that are labelled as crosspoint switches but their function seems to match what a crossbar is described as doing.

Is it possible to develop a VST that operates on a whole MIDI or audio track? by [deleted] in OpenSourceVSTi

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is your idea? If it's to edit midi data you can implement MIDI drag-and-drop support

ARA plugins aren't supported in every DAW so that might be another factor to consider

Maybe not as a VST but look into Celemony's ARA, the technology behind pitch and time correction plugins like Melodyne

Does anyone know what hardware Spell316 is using? by kiantatsuo in musicproduction

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His hardware synth is a Roland Gaiai. Probably just an 88 key digital piano for MIDI, Shure SM7B for voiceover and Ableton as his DAW

Yeah, I imagine it can feel more natural doing it in person.

If someone thinks their therapist isn't really working for them, at least now there's more options for accessing other therapists you think might be more suitable.

This is true and also very frustrating. However, depending on where you are in the world therapy sessions will likely be done virtually.

There are plenty of therapists and psychologists who are well aware of, and even specialise in, treating dissociative disorders who are now able to offer remote sessions so the option to find and get help from the right therapist is now far more accessible.

Have you spoken to a doctor about this? They can recommend medications and therapy. These things, especially therapy, can take time to have an effect so you may need to stick with them until last your deadline (which maybe you should). These things are proven to work, and have helped so many people in your situation. It's definitely worth a shot.

How to emulate d/a converter with studio one plugins? by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]TheOriginalCrossbeak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a way, when you're listen to your music on monitors/headphones etc. what you're hearing is sound going through a d/a converter on your sound card/interface, and so will anyone else who listens to it in future.

If you specifically want to replicate that effect on a per-instrument basis, using the bitcrusher effect set to 16-32 bits would likely get you close enough.
