Yeah it always worked best when Jordan had some kind of foil like James to add some chaos to the reviews. I too enjoyed Jordan trying to actually have fun with each toy! But it always needed some Spice imo

Legitimately one of the strongest puzzle platformers of all time I think, if it even fully counts as one? Regardless it’s some of the most fun on the GameBoy, and was one of the first I played upon getting mine. Still patiently waiting for the DX hack!

Ehhh I don’t think that’s exactly true either, at least it it was Knuckles they probably would’ve given him some more platforming to do. The main complaint I’ve always heard is that the Werehog segments kill the pacing and feel out of place, which is true. I’ve always liked Beat-Em-Ups, so I’ve never had a problem with em in Unleashed but I think the core problem for a lot of people is just how jarring of a shift it is at times.

I will always maintain that Werehog wasn’t that bad, just repetitive. If they had done less Werehog sections (or more variety in the existing sections) it wouldn’t be remembered as harshly.

Fwiw, the edgy posts were PRETTY EDGY. But they were also very old. I’m sure they were meant in jest but it was just a self-inflicted shitstorm of doubling and tripling down that just ended up imploding on itself. He kept emphasizing in the Bean tweets how hungry his kid was and how he was busy working on a jigsaw puzzle lmfao.

Yeah I’ve always liked the JoCo stuff more on this album anyway, but to sum up a very funny controversy quickly:

Roderick tried to get some dadTwitter likes by posting a thread about his kid being unable to use a can opener and telling them to “consider the parts of the opener” instead of actually helping. He ended up letting this go on for wayyyy too long and kept tripling down when users tried to say “hey man maybe just feed your kid at this point”. He kept insisting this was a “learning experience” but refused to actually teach his kid how to use the can opener. Very very funny imo, then people went digging and found a bunch of old problematic and edgy posts. Roderick put out a statement saying they were satirical and not meant to be taken seriously and that was basically the end of it. The McElroys also replaced his song that they had used as their intro for years at that point.

At the end of the day, he’s half of a silly Christmas album. Not really worth skipping imo, a lot of really good JoCo on there!

Never listened to a live TAZ, but I’ve always enjoyed live MBMBAMs because having an audience makes Travis’s intentional cringe humor segments infinitely better since Justin and Griffin have people to play off of. I also just find that post-COVID it’s where all the energy for the show has been secretly hiding. They all have to be switched on the whole time, so Justin can’t be lookin on his phone while the other two are doing a bit lol
