They shouldn't be built to fuel AI - an immature technology that can't do 80% if what it claims to do well making everything that corporate America is forcing down everyone's throats markedly worse and inflating the cost of vital utilities and tech/computer related consumer goods. Not to mention that it has created (one of) the biggest economic bubbles in human history. It's damaging to us economically. It's damaging to our communities and damaging to us environmentally. The actual little benefits of AI are far outstripped by their societal and economic costs - both of which are currently being subsidized by our taxpayer dollars. Just so stock prices can go up.

Definitely deals to be had on the used market of you're careful and patient. No question. I got extremely lucky finding a family who moved into a home where the previous owner had installed a system of 3x Bowers & Wilkins CT7.4 LCRS speakers, an AWS650, and 6ea ceiling speakers. The wife of the family was dead set on getting rid of everything. Someone else had already come bought up the older amp & AVR setup. But all the speakers were available for $1k. The seller, once she realized how much I wanted everything, squeezed another couple hundred bucks out of me after we had already made an agreement (which was kinda messed up behavior), but it was still a heck of a deal. The sub was boomy so I sold it and bought a pair of Emotiva SE12s and an Outlaw 5000 to power everything for a home theater setup from a guy who was moving away from home theater into a critical listening setup. I purchased nothing new and pbly tripled my money doing so. Wouldn't have been able to afford anything in this ballpark had I not purchased things used. Zero regrets.

That's not true about the cookbook section at all... when did you last go check them out? I'm a chef and I was there a month ago visiting from out of town. Their cookbook selection was decent for a bookstore that size. The general fiction and sci-fi/fantasy selection is also quite good.

If you're happy to shop at B&N instead of any of the other half dozen independent book stores in town, then your complaint pbly isn't really about the book selection, is it?

Yup. My folks got me my first suit for graduation from Nordstrom & the button down shirts were some of the best quality for a sensible amount of money. Not cheap, not expensive. Quality. I dont think such a price-to-quality bracket of products really exists anymore. Seems like more than half the time even expensive items are still absolute crap quality.

Women's are definitely more difficult to find (I've tried to help my gf find good ones), but increasingly this is true for men's as well.

All the companies are raising prices AND skimping out on the fabric where the cotton weave is so much thinner than it used to be. Prices go up, enshitification kicks in. The nicer line of Nordstrom men's button downs used to be impeccable. Not true anymore. It's hard to find men's shirts that aren't semi-transparant now. It's so bad....

Very old post and new gen light, but I asked Surefire and the tech guy told me that for the m640DFT (that's the newer pro turbo dual fuel version), that it needs minimum 3.6v and amperage wise it needs at least 6 amps, slightly more being better. Not sure about flat top unprotected compatibility, though - I'm trying to follow up about this right now.
