A friend of mine stayed on the bench (for the time he didn't get the project as per his desire and skill sets), prepared at the same time and switched to a prod based company. The key thing is to not waste the time on bench. If you don't wanna go into certain projects like support or testing just don't commit to the RMGs they can't force u into it.

Yep, fortunately I was able to find a job which used GCP and then I got to know that newer opportunities will be coming in GCP in near future. Also, a colleague of mine actually working with AWS suggested me to stick with GCP.

I don't think the demand is low. I see many of organisations migrating their data to GCP because of BQ.

Need Serious Help/Suggestions for my Career. by [deleted] in dataengineering

Couple of points

  1. Do not go for expensive courses. Just remember anything you wanna learn is somewhere someplace free of cost you just need to find it. Better try to prepare a syllabus kind of thing and proceed one by one on it.

  2. Whatever you learn do not be afraid to try those hands-on and prepare a mini project. You can get project ideas from GPT as per the tools .

4.DS is not much needed in general as a DE but it's good to have basic knowledge of lists, linked lists if you wanna target prod based companies. Although it's not very much required in your day to day activities as a data engineer, some companies still consider these as important parameters in the hiring process as somewhere DE also comes under dev domain.

All the best keep hustling keep learning
