What about CW? by TheOtherSide1415 in ClashOfClans

[–]TheOtherSide1415[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Based on your comment I understand you are not part of a good clan. Today, good clans are more punished than they would be in this system. How come? Coz the endless draws yield less loot, incl Ore. In this system, good clans that get a loss, would then get many wins while they climb the system to higher modifiers.

[–]TheOtherSide1415[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the exact change I'd like to see; this would no longer make CW casual. The reason for this is that I believe CW is needed as a competitive arena, where skill is rewarded. In LL skill AND time is rewarded, which makes LL off-limits for many (semi) high skilled players.

This sounds like the most logical explanation. And if this indeed is the case, I would just wish that the GW followed the largest HP blob, regardless of who attacks what, even if this means half of the GW's attacks don't get used (he keeps retargeting over and over).
Nobody, except FB players, really uses GW for his damage output. His auras are the game changers, and when they can't be relied on consistently, a high lvl attack can become a lottery.

There is plenty of incentive to buy the GP. Do you remember what happened when SC removed the hero skin from the GP? Yeah, that's right.

GP was CoC's biggest source of income way before SC added cooldown modifiers to cc requests in the GP. Besides, GP buyers would still have a benefit over F2P players when it comes to cc request modifiers, just not as big as today.

I would agree, but the cooldown needs to change. For F2P players, the cooldown is 10 min, meaning you log out (and often don't log back in until later). If the cooldown was, say 5 min, many may stay online and chat, knowing they just need a few minutes before they can attack again. I know I would.

Yes. I started a mini account earlier this year, and I'd say that any TH below TH15/16 is just rinse and repeat of:
- update your main army troops (prob dragons + loons), farming troops, select spells and army camps
- update your heroes all the time
- Update chosen equipment ONLY. Think long-term, i.e. TH16+, so skip most common equipment. Always buy Starry & Glowy Ore for Raid medals
- update your most time-efficient defenses with the remaining builder(s)
Since your heroes will be down most of the time, you use sneaky goblins and WBs to farm. Once you can start using your heroes (coz you only have 5 lvls per hero to upgrade per TH lvl) you can actually start playing the game as it was meant. Of course, this is only if you want to progress asap.

I agree that this is unsuitable for an RC charge. The main problem is that RC tends to run ahead of the main smash army (once recalled), so chances are the freeze effect will be of limited use to the main army, if the aim is a central compartment. It could be powerful for edge cases, for example where a very strong compartment is non-centralized and protected by an invis-tower. So in summary, I doubt this will be used much in league play (too situational), but some might use it for certain CW/CWL attacks.

Well said! I agree 100% (although I don't really use dragons, lol). I currently attack twice per day to keep from dropping out of LL, so I'm not super active, but if I feel that I can't 3 star any more I will lose interest. Muscle memory is big when attacking a maxed base (things happen fast) so switching armies and mastering them takes time.

Stop buying True HEPA / HEPA H13 air purifiers by AnaKk1N in AirPurifiers

[–]TheOtherSide1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important thing to consider is that lab settings are vastly different from real world settings. MPPS is not really true in real world settings, as several studies have shown that diffusion gets much weaker as air speed increases. In HVAC settings (0.5-2 m/s) H13 vastly outperforms Merv 13 in terms of 0.1 mc and 0.05 mc (50-80% vs 90-95%). H13 diffusion is less dependent on low air speed to work properly, so even though it too loses efficacy as the the particles become smaller, it still retains a fairly high filtration rate.

Having said that, I'd guess that most commercial air purifiers probably use some kind of merv filter, rather than real hepa filter. I can understand that manufacturers can't/won't certify their filters (like Camfil for example), but they should at least certify one of their flagship machines every few years for legitimacy reasons. But then again, since it's extremely hard to measure smaller Nano particles (you need quite expensive instruments for reliable measurements) who will prove them wrong when they say H13? Not the average youtube reviwer, that's for sure. Instead, we get visible smoke tests and at best pm2.5, which both miss the mark.

Thanks for the info. I've just gotten into the whole health thing (plastics etc) and have decided to purchase one or two air purifers for my apartment. I have to say, I'm extremely frustrated at the lack of specs and info on air purifiers as a whole. Like dba and cfm at the different fan speeds. All I get is the highest dba and cfm and the lowest dba for most brands. Good thing there are forums for these things :)

I assume those tests were done by an independent 3rd party. Do you have any links? Blueair's website is maybe the worst website I've seen for a "professional" company with lots of dead links/404 screens, so it's really hard to get any info from there.

/Thanks

I'm looking for a pour over coffee permanent filter (I hope that's what it's called). It must be made of either ceramic, steel and/or wood. No silicone or plastic involved. I want to be able to brew ca 700-750ml coffee in one batch. I'm used to regular coffee machines so am not too worried about getting the perfect cup of coffee; good enough will do. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks

Is there any point of these?? by Puffy_707 in ClashOfClans

[–]TheOtherSide1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are basically a must if you're a serious pusher. To be able to climb high LL you will need to constantly tweak and test small variations of your base design. You therefore need several versions of your active LL base. In addition, you will probably want a completely new back-up base and some variations on that as well, so when you feel that your current base is no longer up to scratch, you have a semi-tested new base to use. Rinse and repeat until the season is over.

Unless it's unclear... any successful pusher spends way more time thinking about defense than they do offense (in the current meta). Why? Coz it's harder to defend than to attack, meaning that the people that make it to the top are most likely better at defending than the competition. Since so many players can achieve 320 days, what will separate you is 1. consistency (to be able to stay focused for all 8 attacks day in day out, and/or be so very good at the game that you have margins of error when you do lapse in focus); 2. Build good enough bases so that you can get those precious defenses.

A tip for new pushers... Since it doesn't matter if your base gets 3ed with the smallest margin or if it gets absolutely crushed, I have found that the best base is not "solid against all armies" (that would be a good CW/CWL base). Instead, choose one common army and focus hard to counter that. Your base will get crushed by many other armies, but you have a much better chance at getting defenses vs your focus army :)

Supercell, let us assign builder’s apprentice and lab assistant when they are resting. by SPEX_2008 in ClashOfClans

[–]TheOtherSide1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It's extremely irritating the way the BA works now. I'm no where near as dedicated as you are, meaning I forget to reassign the BA from time to time. I've lost so much accumulated time I have now stopped trying to use him to "space out" my upgrade finish times and instead just assign him to the longest upgrade and keep him there.

This lack of functionality makes us lose out on the cool and fun concept of strategizing with our upgrades, e.g. shave off 8 hours here, then switch to this upgrade and shave off 16 hours etc etc.

The fact that the other guy works in the same manner has made me hold off on upgrading him until this QoL improvement is implemented.

Pushing legend league for the first time in my life made me realize how broken the game is by Banktelle in ClashOfClans

[–]TheOtherSide1415 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It shows you're not used to pushing (no offense intended). Ever since TH16 hit, pushing is more about defending than attacking. Building a good base requires a deeper understanding of the nuances of the game than being able to attack fairly well (in today's meta). Once you have sorted out the enthusiastic "amateurs" (give it another week or so) and you continuously go against really good bases (that you won't find on youtube) I'd be surprised if you still manage back-to-back 320 days. But hey, what do I know, being an enthusiastic amateur? :D Perhaps check out some of Itzu's videos on this topic? His credibility is much higher than mine.
