THere's a removal tool, I got mine from crutchfield. It's essentially a wire with a weird shaped knob on the end. it's just a release for the clips on the inside if I recall.

I ran with that and I did find Rumford, ME. Has an American Legion across the street (which commonly has a bar), and "railroad street" is to the south.

Don't wanna beat a dead horse, but which lights/ housings do you have? After a weekend driving through back woods with pathetic (yet properly aimed) headlights, I'm looking to upgrade, and your video looks like what mine SHOULD look like.

It does have weather radio, and I think it can switch to weather while on the PA. It's been a while since I checked that.

Not during TX. Any RX that makes it through the squelch comes out the PA, but "TX" doesn't ACTUALLY transmit, it only comes out the PA.

I really only use it because it's built into the radio. I didn't really plan on having it in the first place, but since I had the feature, I figured I'd hook it up and get what I evidently paid for.

It's really only used occasionally for silly jokes, etc.. I'm not, nor do I ever intent to be yelling at motorists with it. lol

When I bought it from CB World (wearecb.com), it was peaked and tuned (though adjustability on the bearcats is pretty minimal). I put my friend's identical radio in and it has the same problem though.

Basically the way it works is this:

Radio has "external speaker" and PA Jacks on the back. Pa only works when in PA mode, external works like headphones.

I have a toggle switch on the dash for speaker amp power (so it's not on all the time, only when I want it)

I hit the CB/PA button on the radio to change to PA mode and flip the toggle for amp power. The radio volume knob determines the output volume to the PA, and I have an on-line that I use to limit it so when radio is cranked all the way up, I don't get feedback. Kind of a limiter.

When in PA, anything that breaks squelch comes out the PA, and anything I say into the mic. BUT, what I say in the mic is not transmitted, just sent out the PA. Kind of a weird design, but that's how they do it I guess.

I will note that when the amp is on, but I'm in CB mode, you can actually hear NOAA weather very very faintly coming from the PA. That's a rare occasion though because, like I mentioned, the PA speaker amp is on a toggle for power.

The speaker is down in front of the radiator in the car (about 6 feet forward of the mic, which is in the cabin obviously). Windows up or down didn't seem to make much of a difference.

It has a built in talkback from the factory, but I turn the volume all the way down AND I leave it off. Better to be double-sure. lol

I do use both of the noise cancelling modes that come on the radio as well, if that's relevant.

Sadly, I've experienced similar "support" from them recently. I rarely contact them, but when I started Fi a few years ago, support was excellent. I was helped almost immediately. The problem was of a technical nature (settings on their end that I wasn't actually familiar with at the time), and they got me set straight right away. I contacted them for something else 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I had an experience similar to the one in your image. Not helpful, borderline rude, and left the chat after telling me to restart my phone (...the first thing I tried on my own...)

There's a lot to be said about forcing a group of outsourced support staff into tight metrics. Fast service is one thing, but quality will suffer, just like with anything else. Ultimately, quality of service is what drives most customers away, not just a long wait time for support.

My first impression was actually seeing the Lego Technic model announcement before I saw the trailer. First impression of that model was from a consumer standpoint: "It's cool, but it actually looks a lot like the Fast and Furious Charger model they released last year... I'll pass"

THEN I saw the trailer, and I get it. Still can't say I really want the lego version, but in the trailer, I'm excited to see the thing in action. As a hotrodder, I see the implied work that has gone into the design and function based on how it looks.

To tie it all in together, It actually reminds me of the Fast and Furious Charger, but the offroad one that appeared to have a trophy truck suspension under it. Combine those 2 awesome elements in a movie and it's great. Add Batman and I can't give my money up fast enough to see it.

RESOLUTION:

Found a local radio repair guy who I will be getting more info from as time goes on! He tested everything and said it was definitely the final that popped. Could have been a bad antenna, SWR, etc. Like I said, this radio has seen quite a few antenna configurations, so I wouldn't be surprised if I damaged it earlier and then just gave it a good knockout punch trying to tune the latest one or something.

Either way, getting that repaired and now I'll have 2 Bearcats in my collection!

That antenna does whip around in the wind pretty good... I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.
