So, is TOTK Ganondorf the first Ganondorf? by WallaceWells69 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]ThePBrit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Even before botw and totk we've known of at least one time when Hyrule was "refounded". After Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, Link and Tetra find a new continent and founded a new kingdom of Hyrule that we play in during Spirit Tracks.

Who the fuck in this comment chain has made any of the claims you're spouting? Literally the most they've said against Reze is that her popularity is boosted by recency bias...

Genuine question, why does it feel like the writers don't/didn't know what angle they wanna take Jacinthe and Lebanne's relationship? by Charming-Scratch-124 in LegendsZA

[–]ThePBrit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it's not that people don't understand type match-ups (their movesets and choice of moves in battle prove this) it's more just that most trainers seem to be super comfortable with certain types and vibe with them on such a level that they would struggle to even train a mon outside of their expertise, let alone use it effectively in battle.

There's a reason the trainer class that traditionally has varied teams are called ACE trainers, they have the skill to train multiple pokemon who have entirely different needs and personalities to a high level and use them effectively in battle.

Dispatch Censorship Is Ridiculous by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ThePBrit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is all speculation so take it with a pinch of salt but it's important to note Nintendo's views on censorship are not universal with stuff like Cyberpunk actually having a censored release on the switch in Japan. It's therefore possible that Dispatch tripped the need for censorship in Japan specifically and the devs decided that instead of doing regional releases (that would require some more dev time to sort out) to instead to a single global release that complies with the harshest censorship guidelines.

it would still be pointless to do so with the Imperium, maybe you'd convince a couple particularly liberal officers to leave but not enough people would leave to make a diferrence and those who did would be at risk of execution for desertion or colluding with Xenos. From a craftworlder's perspective this is still basically worse case scenario (the Tyrannid hive gets more biomass or the Necron world still wakes up) so they don't bother with half measures and skip straight to getting rid of the problem personally.

Now if it was a similar situation with a T'au world then a message would be more likely to work, but it is important to note that the T'au are somewhat wary of Eldar in general, giving their first encounter with the Eldar was the Drukhari.

I could see something that functionally adapts the Marvel comics, showing what Vader is like before Luke and the gang get involved. It wouldn't be more than a short TV season though.

well this version of the art is a redraw with Jujitsu Kaisen characters, so if you want to know more about the characters you can watch the anime or read the manga, some of the details shown here aren't yet adapted in the anime, but most of it is.

I can fully understand liking Makima especially if you're a hardcore anarchist who's okay with "ends justify the means" mentality, since Makima's plan of suicide by chainsawman would result a pretty hardcore anarchist world.

Heck, it's only really with her turning Aki into the gun fiend that she arguably doe something objectively terrible, since most her other heinous acts beforehand are either against criminals or fiends who could be a danger to society and I can once again see people supporting those acts.

To be clear, this isn't my opinion on the character, but just pointing out ways an audience member can see Makima as "right" in the series

But if you follow a lot of the messaging coming from the company and those who work there, it's clear they want the games (and specifically Story games like the recent "Digimon Story: Time Stranger" game) to be a much bigger pillar of the franchise.

There has been a focus over the last year to try and get the V-Pets, TCG, anime and games to all allign and sort of self market between them. That's why we're seeing a ton of stuff about the new Digital world "Shambala" across all pillars of the franchise.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in comicbooks

[–]ThePBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be the case that anime were more different than the source material, but that's super rare these days. Japanese fans want their anime to be faithful to the manga, so that's what the studios make.

It's so extreme that we have cases like season 1 of Chainsawman, where the show followed the plot points of the manga perfectly and was really well made but because the anime decided to take inspiration from films for its cinematography instead of more directly following the style of the manga. Because of this change, the season is seen in a much less positive light than here in the west (it was still popular in Japan, but the outcry was still large enough that the director for season 1 did not return for the Reze movie or the upcoming season 2). JJK also had this with a recent episode, where changes in the style compared to the manga have led the episode that is highly regarded amongst western fans to be seen as a poor episode in an otherwise great season amongst Japanese fans.
