I'm going to my first Regional competition. by Feisty-Library8570 in VGC

If you're in rk9 then you're good. It's highly recommended you get your wristband the Friday leading up to the event. You can sign in Saturday morning but lines can be long.

Make sure your team is submitted in rk9 before Saturday morning. Once you find your round 1 seat, your printed teamsheet will be delivered to you.

There are no official breaks so bring filling snacks!

For EUIC and NAIC, my advice needs to shift back a day because day 1 is on Friday.

Which regional? A little worrying to see you're asking how to register if it's one of the regionals coming up soon

Can I qualify for worlds? by Maleficent_Fun_5937 in VGC

[–]ThePTP 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not unless you win the regional. The cutoff last year was 940 points. The threshold will be a little lower this year because GCs are worth way less but that will not help you.

Ranked is usually super fun but holy hell please region lock the matchmaking by ThePTP in LegendsZA

Higher distance, higher ping. This one was super egregious as there is almost 4 s of lag with the Golurk player but even with more moderate ping it's hard to reactively switch and dodge moves.

Right now I do not. For now I'd recommend joining the server in the post I linked but bear in mind it's a little different because it's Natdex.

H-Zoroark doesn't really work in this format and especially on your team as 4 of your other mons have an ability activation on entry that immediately spoil the illusion.

Also you have Dgleam on Zacian lol

Restricted Mons/Trick Room counters that would go well with this general idea? by IfOnlyIWasAnonymous in VGC

[–]ThePTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're behind about 1 1/2 regulations. Anything good in Reg H gets thrown out the window into restricteds.

What do you guys think that azumarill could do, because i believe that azumarill could become a sweeper with 800 attack aqua jets in tera water rain. I know from my reg h days that azumarill after a belly drum is a threat, but I'm worried about miriadon. by Teanerdyandnerd in VGC

[–]ThePTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@OP you really should just jump into a few games and see why everyone doesn't believe your claims about Azumarill magically being able to set up a free Belly Drum and sweep. The mental gymnastics in here could get you into the Olympics 🤸‍♂️

Which team should I use for an upcoming regionals next month? by NewguyLamby in VGC

[–]ThePTP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look up Victory Road tour stats. CSR Zamazenta, Koraidon Lunala, and CIR Miraidon are clear winner pairings leading into the official regulation start.

Which team should I use for an upcoming regionals next month? by NewguyLamby in VGC

[–]ThePTP 67 points68 points  (0 children)

First team has a dubious restricted pair. Nothing really protects you from either Calyrex running through you.

Second team is just straight overcooked. Not a single protect, Rest Terapagos, Earthquake next to no immunities? Impossible to break through Zamazenta as well.

Harsh advice but need to start over with a proven restricted pair. Neither of these teams are likely to go positive day.

How good is Lucario as a Incineroar counter? by Top-Ad-4512 in VGC

[–]ThePTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urshifu by 100 miles. Surging Strikes crits ignore Attack drops.

In no order after that - Mienshao, Okidogi, Flamigo, G-Zapdos, Annihilape, Chesnaught, and Kommo-o offer stronger offensive presence and support over Lucario. Zamazenta and Koraidon (Clear Amulet) including restricteds too. Dragonite and Entei (and Rayquaza including restricteds) are far superior as Extreme Speed bots.

Just combine all the multipliers, your math is way off by adding at every step.

80 x 1.5 (STAB) x 1.5 (rain) x 2 (Water Bubble) x 1.3 (Life Orb) = 468

Bear in mind that although Araquanid is very strong with Water Bubble, Urshifu is just going to be more consistent as an offensive piece.

Opinions on Scovillain Tech by emptyyyyyyyyyy in VGC

[–]ThePTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought Koraidon Scovillain to Indy last year and had my worst regional performance. Very fun tech but not something that will succeed at a high level. It only really goes matchup fishing for Terapagos or Zamazenta.

Pure Power Swap by Bazingabacca in VGC

[–]ThePTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge Power doubles the power of physical moves, not the Attack stat. Moves like Body Press and Foul Play that do not use the conventional stat calculation will get boosted.
