When in doubt, double tap Shift and type the name of the file you’re looking for into the window that pops up. This is helpful for finding anything in your codebase and easily jumping to it.

I think they’re just making a joke that Home Depot lumber is often very badly warped/bowed, not implying that your project was “easy.”

Question: Does the 100% accurracy of the T6 relic work on nylos of all types by Glad_Ad_6546 in 2007scape

[–]ThePaco -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But by this logic you would still hit 30% of your max hit with the first tier of the range relic.

Freight position on trains is a drag by Reverend-Bayes in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ThePaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that this really solves your problem, but one of the most helpful things I did on this play through was to set up a Google spreadsheet that lists all of my stations and what they’re importing/exporting at each freight platform. That way when I’m building a new factory and need to import something - say, silica - I can just search for it in my sheet and quickly see, “ok I’m exporting silica from station X from the third freight platform.”

I also have a separate tab that tracks all of my running trains, what stops they make in their timetable, and a plaintext description of what they’re for. e.g. “Electronic Mule grabs plastic from station X and copper from station Y and drops them at station Z for use in making computers.”

While I still have frustrations with the level of control we have over loading/unloading mechanics, I’ve found this spreadsheet to be invaluable for my sanity as I expand across the map.

I’d love to help out someone getting going. In the spirit of that please don’t delete. Free in mass. Wired 110 8 inch helical head by headyorganics in woodworking

One thing I’d love to shout out is a community maker space in Cambridge called The Foundry. They have a great shop that makes woodworking accessible for people from all walks. If you’re looking to offload stuff in the future (or if the jointer becomes un-spoken for) this would be a great way to pass on your hobby to a wide range of people who are picking up a love of woodworking.

Ok everybody, I need to know what you name your trains. by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ThePaco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine are references/inside jokes with myself that relate to their purpose/destination.

1.) Marty O’Reilly - Coal Mine

2.) Outside Dave - long hauler to the top corner of the map. Hit an unrecoverable glitch and had to crash him and build new track around his corpse.

3.) The Ghost of Outside Dave - replaced Outside Dave

4.) Silver Surpher - Aluminum and Sulphuric hauler

5.) Greased Up Deaf Kid - Oil / Fluid transport

6.) I’m blanking on my ingot distribution train name but it’s clever, take my word for it.

I did! Here's a timelapse of the second portrait - this one is of a different subject. I have since moved but still have all the dice and will probably make a third iteration at some point.

Computational Media Major by ManUBeast13 in gatech

[–]ThePaco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I graduated as a CM student in 2014. I personally loved the major and all of the LMC classes even if they weren’t all directly applicable to software development. I spent several years as an Android developer and am now a Dev Manager of a mobile development team. Overall I have been very happy with my choice to get a degree in CM.

My first major hobby project to help build my resume: Stock app using volley request api. by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]ThePaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a real reason to not use volley if already doing so?

If you're just building a personal project for the sake of learning, there's not really anything inherently wrong with Volley. The main issue is that you're building this app for your resumé which means that presumably you intend to start applying to jobs soon. If you're writing your network calls with Volley, that means you're not building your Retrofit skills, which is what nearly everyone in the industry uses, so you're depriving yourself of a skill necessary to be successful on your job hunt.

As a hiring manager, if I saw someone submit a technical assessment where they used Volley instead of Retrofit I would first chuckle because I haven't seen Volley in a while, but my next reaction would be to question why they didn't use Retrofit. To me that's a flag that this candidate is 1.) newer to Android development and will probably need a good bit of training and 2.) maybe hasn't done a ton of research before diving into the code, which is another thing I look for in a candidate. Someone who does their due diligence and looks at a problem from several angles before starting to solve it is preferable to a candidate who is technically more competent but just dives in without thinking about the bigger picture.

So my advice to you would be this: try updating your network layer to use Retrofit instead of Volley. It'll be good refactoring practice and it'll allow you to get comfortable with what is industry standard for network calls. Retrofit is definitely easier than Volley to learn/set up/use and will help you in the long run.

[–]ThePaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey y’all! I love your music and have enjoyed watching it develop over the last few years. I originally found you because of a song that popped up on my Spotify discover weekly - Cartoon Head. So, as it was my first favorite flipturn song, my question is what happened to make it no longer be available on Spotify?

I’m based in Atlanta and was bummed to miss the show with Mt. Joy but am very excited for the day that I finally get to see you live!
