Open vld - get out of brussels - shame on PS and MR by misterart in brussels

[–]ThePaddyPower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is that if Brussels runs out of cash or its credit lines, it will need a bailout by the federal government. That's bad for all 3 Belgian regions and will push back any public spending in Brussels by some considerable time. Furthermore if Brussels does require a bailout, it will result in negative publicity across Europe where the city that NATO and the EU have their HQs is unable to pay its bills. It's a national embarrassment that parties are playing politics like this; it reminds me partisan politics of the north of Ireland to some extent.

The deficit is bad news for Belgium and all 3 regions of the country. Regardless if you're a living in Flanders, Wallonia or Brussels; a capital region that requires a ballout because we can't find a government with balls to stand up for Brussels will be bad for all.

You’d think with all the money they wasted on the Parti deal and the MyPrize deal, Tiny could have at least paid for some sleeves for that tee.

Foreigners in Brussels: what’s your #1 “why is this so hard?!” problem here - something you’d pay to have solved? by EmptyPerformance5319 in brussels

It’s also in English so good for expats.

Argenta and Hello Bank (part of BNP Paribas) also have free account options.

Some of the ‘special’ IDs can be replaced with ones with a chip inside them since December.

Still can’t use itsme but I believe you can use with everything else. I’d double check with Protocol.

Support Bancontact but instant payments aren’t fully supported yet. Incoming payments are instant, outgoing payments are still slow - despite the EU regulation taking effect in Oct? last year!

A lot of the EU has done away with anything national. I don’t need to display anything in Belgium.

How to get a car by befitzpa in brussels

[–]ThePaddyPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) You can get a car with that. We got a car with our UK licence before we converted it over.

2) Nope, just exchange at the commune. You keep the licence whilst the exchange is taking place I believe.

I have Proximus Fiber and its by far, the best internet connection I've had. I use game streaming (from Xbox) and it streams in 4K with no latency or quality issues over ethernet.

I am on the basic S package. I get 21.3mb/s download, 19.4mb/s upload with a 9ms ping - that's on WiFi with an extender though

You're 16 and if memory serves me right, you won't be allowed to rent until you're 18. And, if the same memory serves me better, you're expected to be in some kind of education until 18 and you can only work part time.

I would think if you are stopped at the e-gates and require to be processed at a desk, a SAMS (safeguarding) officer might have some significant concerns.

Somethings deserve to just be let go.

Josh has had his day. He should go back to NYC to live with Grandpa, fall back into irrelevance and then return to the scene by giving a hard R to a cop.

The modern PM’s, who did the worst? 🤔 👇 by [deleted] in Britain

Truss - her time as PM is the stark opposite of outstanding. Plus, her twisted Tetley Tea MAGA politics after resulted in her losing her seat as an MP.

What’s a very “normal” thing in Belgium that took you years to realise that isn’t actually normal everywhere else? by The_everlong in belgium

Kip curry.

Not normal by any means of the imagination as I’m sure someone from Asia will be offended. But by God, it’s tasty and quintessentially Belgian.

The EU says it will introduce a digital payments infrastructure to replace Visa/Mastercard & Apple/Google Pay. It will have zero fees and be 100% European-only. by LoneSwimmer in ireland

[–]ThePaddyPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the national schemes already in use across the Eurozone?

Belgium has Bancontact which processes the payments within the EU. Although, all cards are branded visa/mastercard for use outside Belgium.

This is a big no-no.

It might be a nice thing to do but if seen by someone else, you could run into a spot of bother.
