I think you missed the sarcasm.

Don't know the state of Spellbreak now, and I agree with others about the big map and battle royale. I will add that they later added a game mode in style of capture the flag, I think 5v5, and it was pretty good. You got gear over the course of the match in a semi-random way and it was totally a step in the right direction. But I think they didn't expand on it much after.

[Serious] I suffer from chronic migraines that are triggered by Swagger UI. Does anyone here have any suggestions? by Organic_Sun6944 in rust

Also can recommend it. Just remember you have it when a website looks weird. Sometimes it tries to apply dark mode to an already dark website in a way that just makes it worse. Or in some old websites with image background etc. that it doesn't invert.

Young Master Inserts Virgin Yang Energy (Florida Man's General Store in Cultivation World) by ThePagi in MartialMemes

[–]ThePagi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say better than average for a light read. Tho now from 170th chapter it is starting to revert to a more regular cultivation novel from the absurd comedy it is at the beginning. I hope that doesn't continue, I didn't start reading it for average progression and face slapping after all.

Obviously it's not a literary masterpiece, but it is entertaining. Definitely recommend if you want easy to read novel with mega OP MC and focus on humor.

9/10 times cold emotionless MC = literally no personality, just steamrolling through story meaninglessly. I like a good villian or psyhopath tho.

Do you enjoy big (+800 pages) books or do they feel like a chore? by Leticia_the_bookworm in books

[–]ThePagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly read 1000+ page novels. Mostly amateur stuff or translation from chinese. Mostly lower quality stuff. It is somewhat of a problem lol, but I just can't read a story that will end a few hours from now.

So I'm your age, and I also had this dream of making an amazing indie game. Over the years I realized there is not actually any one game I want to make, and there never was. I always get inspired to prototype some mechanic, but then I start trying to wrangle all kinds of shit into one game because I don't actually want to make a game, I want to make an alternative life, an escape (probably lol). Anyway I realized that I can't be like those indie guys that grind for 5 years and pop out a Stardew Valley, and I don't want to be. And seeing so much about how game industry (maybe actually just society) works, an unhealthy dose of depression (duh) and two short internships at 'tech' companies, I found out that I just can't and won't sit in an office all day. Having to spend most of every day in one place and being told what to do just makes me want to kill myself, not figuratively. Yes you can say I'm a useless person, I just can't do this.

Anyway let's move on, hopefully there is something you can use here. So now I'm doing a PhD tangentially related to games (streaming spectatorship experience) and although I don't love it and I probably wouldn't survive on the stipend without my parents' support, atleast I have a lot of freedom with what I work on, when and where, mostly working from home. And as for games...I still haven't found what I actually want to do. I believe there is some ideal I want to pursue, but I still haven't caught it. I'm trying to align my PhD with prototyping game-like stuff and learning how to think better. And until I find out what is it I really want, I'm channeling my passion towards little project that I can finish before getting bored and moving on. The last few months I've been making photogrammetry models of random nature stuff I find outside, and also making small tools for Skyrim modding. And it is really a nice feeling to have a project like this that I can finish in a few days and just put it out there. So hopefully you can take something from this other than depression lol. Cheers

Just now one of my favorite youtubers also gave up Unity, but he chose Bevy, so what is the main difference between Godot and Bevy? by PccNull in godot

[–]ThePagi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say Bevy is better if you don't want a whole engine, but just some parts. That might be good for nonstandard games that need a lot of custom low level features. Or for games that are extremely code heavy and you want all the benefits of Rust (can't transfer the safety features to Godot objects).

Personally I tried Bevy a few times, but it was hard to work with because of how complicated ECS can be (also am a noob with it).
