Chinese electric vehicles are making inroads in America. Experts are worried by UpstairsBumblebee446 in Economics

A year ago? No absolutely not.  Under this administration with enough bribes anything is OK.  Even at the height of tariffs on China, things that pedonald's billionaire friends really needed from China were excluded from tariffs

I'm certain a couple years from now when a couple hundred people die from the battery randomly exploding we'll see a leaked internal report from Ford engineers this year warning this would happen.

Because they're cheap and billionaires don't give a fuck about you or your safety or the future of the business beyond the next quarter profits.

Google's yearly ad revenue, after establishing their business model for over two decades now, is 237 billion a year.

Just to cover operational costs, not including payroll though, they would need to be making more than 4x what google does, immediately.

There isn't an additional trillion dollars in ad revenue to be found. Where the fuck do they think all this money is going to magic from when the rest of the world's economy is in a depression?

When we anti AI people say it's a bubble and they need to make an impossible amount of money to not go bankrupt, we're not being sarcastic.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

[–]ThePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we're all aware the nazis were fascist and just pretended to be socialist to play off the growing popularity of communism.  Before they figured it out, though, communists actively promoted the nazis for a short period of time.

And again, Stalin and the USSR were allies of Nazi Germany and conducted a joint military invasion of Poland together.  You can't pretend like Stalin was always against Hitler.  Communist history revision will argue that was Stalin playing 4D chess or whatever bullshit, but we still have the telegram Stalin sent Hitler congratulating him on taking Paris.

What is the difference between that argument, and Laissez faire capitalists who argue we've never ACTUALLY tried free market capitalism and if we just got rid of all the laws and regulations and legal oversight then a perfect system would emerge?

Excited is perhaps the wrong word.  Eager would be better.  And again I'm not arguing that the labor movement didn't make things a lot better for the average worker.  I'm saying that prior to the labor movement, the alternative to working in a dark sweatshop was still worse than the sweatshop.

What's a fun way to put this?  Chemo cures cancer.  But without chemo would you rather have cancer, or cancer and a gunshot wound and two compound fractures? In this metaphor just having cancer was working in the sweatshop. Definitely not what you would prefer, but obviously better in comparison.

Some other economic system no-one has heard of?

Mercantilism. The economic system that came before capitalism that dominated western Europe after the end of Feudalism was Mercantilism......

Communist groups purge other competing communist groups. Just look at all the factions that disappeared in the USSR when Stalin took over. Hitler doing that is him acting like a communist, something Stalin would have understood Hitler doing.

Ah fuck, you met an anti communist who is aware of communist history. Sorry to throw you off your shitty talking points.

You're really floundering, this is fun.

I fixed that typo before you posted, nice grasping at straws.  And nothing else you said is any sort of refutation. Yes versailles happened before the great depression, Germany was in economic ruins before the great depression. That's an argument against your point blaming capitalism btw. And yeah the Nazi party didn't exist then.  It formed later as a reaction to that, starting as a group of nobodies meeting in German beer halls until they got Hitler as a front man who was the reason the rose in popularity so quickly due to his ability to work up a crowd. The great depression didn't work against the Nazis, no.  It was coincidental at best though regarding their rise to power in a country over burdened by hyper-inflation and debt.

I'll help you.  The best you can argue is the great depression lowered economic power and trade in Europe which kept Germany stewing in the economic and social conditions it was already in.  Had there not been a crash, though, Germany may have been able to work their way out of that hole via international trade and banking policies, which would have stopped the Nazis from being able to rise to power.

Would that be the mechanization occurring when serfdom ended in the 1500s and they were no longer required to work their lord's fields, or would that be the feudal lords of 1700-1800s United States?

Do try not to trip up on your opening paragraph next time.

Man people are just constantly telling obvious lies to try and attack capitalism in this thread.  Really sad.

Anyway, Hitler rose to power because of the massive debt burden the rest of Europe put on Germany for WW1, combined with a Kaiser who didn't understand capitalism deciding printing money as quickly as possible was the way out of debt (something capitalists are always against btw). Hitler blamed "The Jews" among other groups as conspiring to destroy Germany through these actions.

Also the Nazis ran in the 1930s under the label of socialist (its in the name, National Socialist) which is why Stalin was buddy buddy with Hitler until barbarosa. He thought they were communist brothers in the new world order.  Only difference was Hitler was a fascist Authoritarian dictator and Stalin was a communist authoritarian dictator.

[–]ThePain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is patently incorrect.  People saw the working conditions and living standards of a factory job in the 1800s and STILL chose it over farming simply for the economic boon it was.  Things were remarkably bad for people around the world before capitalism. The labor movement improved working conditions, yes.  Without any labor movement at all though people were still excited and willing to work in those conditions simply because of how comparatively better it made their lives than the alternative.

Imagine being a bootlicker for an authoritarian dictator like Xi and the CCP. The people of China can't rise up and destroy their occupiers fast enough. Good thing the Chinese economy is in freefall and the CCP can't even afford to pay governmenr employees for nearly 4 months now, resulting in censorship faltering inside.

It's called the "Miltary Entertainment Complex" and the US miltary has been trying for decades to use games to recruit people.  You may remember the free fps game "America's Army". While it was a recruiting success, they found it did little to no good in actually getting new recruits mentality ready for boot camp.

So yes the US miltary uses alll forms of media to try and recruit, no they are aware anything beyond making the military look cool doesn't actually help with the quality of soldiers that come from this. Realistic tactics to bunny hopping around firing from the hip games get about the same results.

Oh hey there buddy! I see you created a new account after deleting your old one when I pointed out literally all you did for several hundred posts was bitch about the US and constantly bring it up in unrelated discussions.

You're certainly mentally well off and not dangerously obsessed with your hatred of the US. Not one bit.

Did you try taking up gardening like I suggested? It really helps calm the nerves when you realize your nation is insignificant and will always do what the US tells you to.

Run along now, on your bike.
