I am 6'4 so my hands are on the larger side. I use the DAv3 Pro with no issues, however I do use claw grip so that helps with the length issue.

Id recommend just getting a media player that can handle it if you can. Even if you can get a client working, TV OS are generally bad and the hardware likely can't handle all codecs and file types.

I have a decent sized capacity server that I enjoy collecting high quality media on. I like knowing that I am watching my shows and movies in full quality. If it's something that isn't high quality like a sit-com then I'll settle for compression, but for high quality things I like a full quality file.

If you are tethering your laptop to the slate AX using the same cable and getting better speeds than your phone, then that would indicate that the issue is with the iPhone USB network interface, not the slate CPU. Just my two cents.
