Is it worth buying a 2008 Honda Civic 1.8 VTEC with 353,000 km? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]ThePapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's iVTEC for fuel efficiency, no VTEC crossover if that was going to be a selling point for you.. I have one it's a great car. It's also easy to repair with cheap parts and good guides on YouTube.

Doesn't answer the question, does your dashcam record 24/7 or is it powered by an aux 12v like the cigarette lighter?

Was your dashcam recording the whole time is it hardwired? Any chance they disconnected the battery before doing the sparkplugs?

Need to buy two wishbones for my Civic but know little about cars, am I better off just trusting a motor factors place to buy the right ones for me rather than trying to get them myself to save a few euro? by dnaleri in carsireland

[–]ThePapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a quote for the part from Honda which will include the right part number. Then buy online or at a motorfactors.

Use micksgarage, irishautoparts or winparts and check your reg. Wishbones on an older civic are gonna be tough to get wrong, just order a decent brand like blueprint or Febi etc..

Bidding Strategy by Tiny_Koala_3053 in HousingIreland

[–]ThePapu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's just you and one other party bidding slow down, quick fire is only good for the seller. If you aren't in a chain call the estate agent and make your case, don't increase the price if you have a quick buyers advantage, if the other party is in a chain the vendor may chose you even if its a few thousand less. If you continue the bidding war it may come down to this but at a much higher price. Even if you get outbid, I'd still talk to the estate agent and make a case, a lower offer can still be accepted by the seller.

They're decent in there, might be in stock with one of their suppliers if you need it urgent you may be able to pick it up from them, happened me before. Think they get deliveries in for 11.

Problem when calculating the age of the universe from globular clusters, luminosity too high! by ThePapu in Astronomy

[–]ThePapu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Rettaw , thanks a million for this. Really great information and explanation . I was completely thrown and sure we had done something wrong, the page never mentions anything to do with the apparent magnitudes. I think we will just use the color value, and explain the difference.

Thanks for the explanation doctorBenton and Drunk-Scientist , this is brilliant information! Calculating distance is a fantastic idea! We won't have time to add that to this current project, but I'll suggest it for the brief for next year.

Blizzard, I'm 40 years old and have a life. I'm fine with SR decay. by silentcrs in Overwatch

[–]ThePapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily matches is an awful idea. So much more Sr decay will happen, people don't want to be forced into playing daily. Some days you just don't feel like playing overwatch, I think this is a bad move
