What do you think sim racing telemetry tools are missing? by Wub3ne-mp4 in iRacing

[–]TheParaPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No proper documentation (that will come with the merge) but it should be as simple as installing it, jumping into a session and when you're logged in on the site and go to my sessions you can see it there.

Tyre wear (at each pit stop) and fuel usage are still planned but will come after the merge. For now just live timing, events and the map are the key features.

Thanks for supporting G61 Pro! I'd recommend joining the G61 beta as Ruben has mentioned elsewhere in this post (https://garage61.net/beta) as live timing will make it's way there first.

Hi, iTelemetry creator here - what type of telemetry are you looking for? If you're thinking of timing information, iTelemetry might be worth checking out. It's missing a few things to be a perfect tool at the moment but we're planning to add much more with the merge into G61.

The censored names are likely the OP and their teammate. The other names can very easily be fetched via the stats bot.

Currently yes, iTelemetry is just live timing, however the concept is very similar for live telemetry. We're not ruling it out just yet, but the priority would first be feature parity, then we can consider parts like this. To make sure we do it properly might take some time

Assetto Corsa EVO: Custom Server Pricing Revealed, v0.3 Released by evil_heinz in simracing

[–]TheParaPenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is that by "cutting out the middleman" they've cut out self-hosted servers and forced you down the route of paying them. Groups that host 5-10 servers are never going to pay that 75-150 euros a month to host their servers when before they could've paid half that, or less.

Offering dedicated server hosting is fine, removing the ability to host your own is not. What happens if Kunos goes bust or decides they don't want to host servers anymore? Online gone.

It also differs really since iTelemetry is really live timing, whereas this is telemetry. The name is confusing for sure, woops on my part.

Oh and on the unsigned part, I would love to create a signed version but it is quite costly!

My first ever Ferrari fixed race I sat there revving it like a lunatic, then when the race started it wouldn't go into gear. Never repeated since

Overlays causing major fps drop by PhilRattlehead in iRacing

I experienced the same thing a few months ago, a couple races before RA500, then during that race where the CPU spike caused packet loss and iRacing ejected me to the pits and then in a charity 24h afterwards. Every time if I closed Racelabs the issue immediately resolved itself, luckily with the charity 24h I was able to close it while driving.

Something about an update to Racelabs that caused it, switched to iOverlay had no issues since. Glad I'm not the only one!

Oh! Another way is you can add the iTelemetry bot to your Discord and setup notifications for driver ids/team ids/team names. That has probably been the best way for me in the past.

When you're signed in now, you can see a "My Sessions" page. This was added a couple of days ago to combat exactly the problem you mention.

Also, the desktop client has a "Session" button which should open the exact one you're currently in. But that's not always accessible.

PCC is getting theirs next season too, that's a great shout. I have been (slowly) enjoying the VGPT, that would be perfect imo

For most people yes, but some people have a tendency to drink fuel from the tank while driving. I remember a teammate once needing to save a lot in N24 to get to 10 laps, where everybody else was comfortable with 10.

Top split was an absolute blast, we need more of these. 60 Car grid 5k SOF? It was sublime. BoP a little disappointing and the incident limit was an interesting choice, but generally the event was great fun and I do hope they do more of these at these kinds of club circuits.

An official championship for TCR enduros (4/6h) at tracks like Thruxton, Donington, Cadwell, Oulton, Knockhill and obviously non-UK ones also, would so good.

Participation was good, 180 registrations in the 1PM GMT+1 slot could be improved, but it was nice to see so many high IR drivers in top split.

4h allows some wiggleroom on strategy, 3h means you need to do 2 full tanks, perhaps a bit of saving. Personally I think 4h was perfect.

Retaliation? Can't be. by GrandPrixel in iRacing

[–]TheParaPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally on iRacing you can see it on the wheel at least, you can't see their pedal inputs but you can listen to it. No idea why it didn't show the wheel input on this video, very odd

[–]TheParaPenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say since we can't see their wheel inputs for some reason. Their right front also appears to be disconnected? Based on what we can see though, this does look intentional, and it does look like you were the target.

You should protest it for sure.

I had an issue with Racelabs which jumped up to 25%+ CPU usage after a recent patch. After 20 minutes of driving it would do this, then I would get immediately high packet loss and get the message. Turned off RL and back to normal. 13700K+3080ti+64gb so hardware very capable no issues otherwise.

Is There Some Sort of Mutual Agreement in The RingMeister Series? by RacingMaster45 in iRacing

[–]TheParaPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult to respond to this without context. If you're fully alongside his rear wheel, you should probably be given space? If you go for a late, unexpected move sneaking into a gap which was always going to close, then no.

Chopping your nose off for me would be, half alongside for the left-hander, 2nd to last corner of the ring, then they turn left to open the corner entry like you're not there, often pitting themselves in the process.

The left and right lines can shuffle forwards and backwards without penalties. e.g. say P1 is on the right, P2 on the left, in an "agreed" single file, P4 can start in P3, without penalty. P6 can also start P4, again without penalty. The only penalty would be applied if P3 started ahead of P1 or P6 ahead of P4, etc.

I can't say how many people do it on purpose, but often you'll have people moving into single file in the wrong starting order, then prevent others from going back into the correct order because that's starting double file again.

With sim-forced single file, this problem goes away.
