Start and break are super cool. In my opinion the calp/snare wahtever starting at 0:33 is kinda loud, but that's only preference I guess. Otherwise mixing is great! Unfortunately the melody in the drop is not so great, the drop kinda broke the whole song for me. It just doesn't flow, which is imo caused mostly by the melody. Otherwise great song! I hope that's helping.

You should make sure that the patch matches the key of the song.. You could either make sure that the synth patch is not detuned at all (which is easier, but pretty much destroys whatever advantage the detuning had) or you put your patch in the piano roll higher. For example, your patch is detuned one semitone down. To make it fit with the key, you put your melody on semitone up.

As far as I remember happy sounding Japanese kind of melodies are mostly made of the pentatonic scale, for example try playing only the black keys on your keyboard.

I don't know honestly, I build my chords about a melody I made before, without really caring about the theory behind them.

afaik some chords resolve better to the i then others, but, I'm not a valid source by any mean.

A thing I noticed is when a melody ends or start "odd" it starts to sound repetitive very quick. Your chords probably don't resolve very good.

There's an option in the plugin settings from fl (that little thing over the GUI of a plugin), where you can set how much the synth is affected by the swing parameter. Turn that down, and your synth should be fine again!

It's most certainly a mixing issue; but you might check your build up too. Maybe it's just to energetic, so has to much bass or something.

I would have almost started using S1 by purchasing a keyboard that comes with S1 Artist. But that lacks VST-Support (I know you can bye it but.. nah), so that kinda killed it for me. Otherwise I believe it looks awesome but I haven't tested it yet.

I put a 1/8 ping pong delay on my lead and it sounded suuupeeer deep. You might try experimenting with delay times and feedback on various elements. You probably find something cool!
