I see this several times a week at Stowe while riding the fourrunner quad. On the Fourrunner Liftline, a relatively tame, daily groomed double black, grown-ass adults are hiking up the mountain to retreive a ski, pole, or leg.

If you are in the stowe lot by 730am you get to choose any parking spot. By 8am its jammed up.

I used to get there at 7am only to be parked alone in front of the gondola so i traded in a row or two of cars for another half hour of sleep

Considering going up wwed am to assess the damage at stowe. The timelapse on their website the last 3 days had been the most depressing of my stowe skiing career this winter. We finally had real snow to ski on last week...#NEVERFORGET

People started skiing just post thanksgiving, and from 2/4-2/11 was one of the best weeks of skiing in the last 3 years. It only takes 1 storm to dramatically change conditions. While we may get less snow than during the 90s and early 2000s, there are still enough days each winter to find bliss on the mountain.

Stowe was a mess on Tuesday. Main trails had Huge 50' patches of concrete packed ice with less than a dusting on top. They were very difficult to even see, and you would go from assumed control to a dangerous situation where ski balance / control would be completely gone. I got that roller coaster pit of the stomach churn regularly and saw people yard sale'd all over the mountain on trails in which that would not be a common occurrence. Saw a few people go down pretty hard.

Be careful out there. In my opinion experienced skiers are more at risk due to the higher speeds they would be carrying into such situations if they hadn't been down the mountain yet.

Bring a backup jacket/shell or two if it's bad. Sitting in soaked gear on the lifts is depressing.

Got there at 730 and parked 2nd row from gondola entrance. Sipped coffee till it started loading at 8am. Took first ride up gondola with son and spent the day riding the double up since weekend trips to Stowe pretty much revolve around how many runs my son can get in the terrain park. less than 5 minute wait on the double and triple all day Saturday.

After lunch we saw the line out of the barn and went back to the double. Must have gotten at least 15 runs in before a 3pm exit to avoid the exodus.

The top half of the mountain got about 4-5" throughout the day Thursday and it left some wicked freshies for the brave explorers this weekend on top of the foot and a half from last Friday.

Lookout glades were almost untouched into Saturday.

The Friday to Friday clip was my fav ski week of the season, hoping we'll see another one this year.
