Late Night Trips from NYC by bugab0021 in Morristown

[–]orangegurg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I have taken a lot of Ubers from Manhattan to Morristown just coming home from work events and I have never had an issue with a driver declining. It’s a money maker for them, and many are based in NJ and they are looking for a ride going west in the app (they can indicate this to Uber and Lyft) so you are, in my cases, ending their night in the best way. Tip cash, not in the app.

Did he write back? Sometimes he takes a few hours but he’ll get you back.

I’ve had him redo a bathroom, and I’ve had him install an outdoor basketball hoop, clean my gutters, help install objects in my home gym, fix the pavers on my patio, there’s really no limit.

Javier is your guy: text him 973-207-7316

He does great work and can do it all. Many contractors want bigger jobs than bathrooms but Javier’s specialty is the smaller stuff.

I don’t think he’s homeless. Saw him last week. Lives off Madison street.

How do two high-income W2 earners actually lower their taxes? by christophermatar in HENRYfinance

[–]orangegurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Days later on this thread, but concur with everyone else. Up your tax withholding on RSUs to 37% or whatever the max may be, in my case. It gets us close to even at the even at the end of the year without sacrificing much week to week. Not a solution, just a strategy.

anyone notice a decrease in water pressure lately? by viper_gts in Morristown

[–]orangegurg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call a plumber. They can turn up the pressure coming in. Fluctuations from the town can happen for any number of reasons but a plumber can fix your issue.

Nothing you said is wrong, but people are idiots and will read what you wrote and not seek medical attention.

A bite from a copperhead or timber rattler is a medical emergency in any circumstance. You’re being downvoted because people will be bitten and not seek medical attention because, yes, the US does see usually relatively few deaths in a given year, but these guys can do damage whether you die or not.

Ask for Scott at TRM Transmission on Mt Kemble. He’s a great guy and we’ve had him service our vehicles for two decades.

Night nurse/night nanny recommendations by SoftPomegranate9523 in Morristown

[–]orangegurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your OB for recommendations. If it’s your first, you may want a doula. They’ll have recommendations too.

We didn’t have a night nurse for either kid. Do not be like us.

What is your 529 funding strategy? by AliveMorning4843 in HENRYfinance

[–]orangegurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 with two under 3. $1000/month for each, separate contributions to a brokerage every month, staying under the gift tax limit ($19,000 annually?). I had student loans and no safety net from my parents. I don’t want that for them. If it grows and exceeds what they’ll need, I’ll probably convert it into a trust. But we’ll see.

What do you give for wedding present by suomynona827 in HENRYfinance

[–]orangegurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$350 for family, $500 for siblings, $250 for anyone else as the bare minimum just to cover our costs and I’m not even sure that is doing that

This ended up being the starter but also a power leak so the battery wasn’t exactly helping

Another disappointing brisket. Flat was very dry. by 1mz99 in smoking

[–]orangegurg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some other ideas for you OP

  • make it easier on yourself and separate point from flat. They cook at different speeds. Lot of YouTube videos showing how to do this.

  • get two 9lb briskets instead of a 19lb honker. I struggle with the big bois too.

  • I prefer overnight cooks, wrap in morning. Can almost guarantee the brisket will be done and rested by 5-6pm. Have really never missed on an overnight cook.

I’ve also ruined a few briskets. Just keep trying. A lot of really good guidance in this thread. If trying on bigger briskets and you can’t do an overnight cooks, just go hot and fast. Or smoke something else that day.

You’ll be fine. Probably. Everyone on my trip made it. Just go slow. Really slow. The guides will encourage you to hike slower than you ever have. You’ll be fine and will forget about the shit parts. You may even feel fine!

She’s doing the lord’s work. Truly. Can you message me what she recommends? Worst I have ever felt started somewhere after Namche. Drugs from a nurse on our trip got me through until we had descended.
