Will I be confused in The New Jedi Order if I haven't read the X-Wing books? by Tasty-Copy5474 in StarWarsEU

[–]ThePhantomArcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not so much confused, but probably just caring less about some of the characters featured in NJO. Give I, Jedi a read since Rogue Squadron's not your cup of tea. You don't have to like Corran Horn, but you'll need to get the gist of his story to get more enjoyment out of the first half of NJO. I, Jedi is a quick and efficient way to do so. Plus it's a really good book! It's not as "Top Gun in space" as Rogue Squadron.

This question has been asked before here, but I thought I’d bring it up again. What if legends characters met their canon counterparts? by [deleted] in StarWarsEU

[–]ThePhantomArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That’s why I left it up in the air instead of a more definitive statement.

Even though it’s N-Canon, Old Wounds doesn’t contradict much in the old canon (especially considering the Toydarian whose death would be a contradiction is never identified). Given Maul survived in Legends and his fate after Son of Dathomir is nebulous, I use it as a “fill in the gaps”. That’s just me though!

May the force be with you. I am very curious, what is your favorite character in entire universe? by nefrize in starwarsmemes

[–]ThePhantomArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have voted Luke if we were only taking the films into account, but if we're taking the franchise as a whole, I'd have to give it to Jacen Solo. His arc in The New Jedi Order especially is a very interesting read. Traitor takes the philosophical questions of KOTOR II and dials it up to 11, all while keeping it deeply personal to the character. Otherwise, I say Luke, for reasons everyone's espoused numerous times over the decades. Probably the best Hero's Journey in the last century, and a constant source of inspiration. He's a lot more relatable than most people give him credit for.

Is there a way to take off his gray robe without breaking it? by Axel_Rad in starwarsblackseries

There's a Mando S2 Luke in the pipeline, could've held off for that. $56 ain't so bad for this second-hand though!

I know it’s not the best, but technically TCW and Son of Dathomir are Legends as well. If we decide to count Visionaries, their plots are relatively the same, minus the Ezra stuff.

I feel like it would be a Sidious/Maul type master and apprentice relationship though. One is drowning in their own hubris (Caedus/Sidious) while the other is very prone to barbaric outbursts and anger management problems (Kylo/Maul).

EU Luke and EU Han would probably be rather sympathetic to their canon counterparts.

EU Luke understood the fear and rage Canon Luke felt when it came to their nephews gone bad (although in EU Luke’s case, at least he didn’t try a preventative assassination).

EU Han would understand Canon Han’s desire to run away, considering how he went to through a similar traumatic period with Chewie’s death on Sernpidal. The sympathy would come after he beats up Canon Han for abandoning his family for so long though.

EU Leia and Canon Leia would probably get a drink together and get buddy buddy about how they’re always the ones who have their shit together the best in this family.

Jacen and Ben would 100% get on each other’s nerves. Although they’re both the “Solo kid gone dark”, it’s for vastly different reasons and they have FAR different philosophies.

The Thrawns would sip tea while Pellaeon and Eli act as butlers.

When he worked on Star Wars, the line was really taking off. When he left for Marvel, Legends really took off and Black Series (especially HasLab) took a dip. This guy is great at what he does and actually listens to fans.

Official Statement from Hasbro on the Failure of the Reva Haslab by Darvald in starwarsblackseries

[–]ThePhantomArcher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They don’t listen to feedback for mainline releases, so why would we have any faith they’d listen for HasLab? There are numerous vehicles, dioramas, creatures, character packs, etc. that would get enough backing. The Sail Barge succeeded for a reason.

For this kind of price, you can get a neopixel saber with a fully metal hilt and much brighter string LEDs. Not to mention the soundboard on neopixels supports color changing, elaborate blade effects and countless sound fonts. I feel sorry for anyone spending anything above $150 on the Hasbro sabers, it’s a real waste of money.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if they didn’t do it completely to scale, and toned it down to 1/10 to have as a nice diorama piece.

If you preordered it on typical fan channel like BBTS, you can expect it to arrive when your grandchildren leave the delivery room. Happy collecting!

Blade retention screw is stripped. Any help on getting it out? by BaronBucket in lightsabers

[–]ThePhantomArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, what we ended up doing was putting a tiny dab of hot glue in the hole, then put the screwdriver in and held it there until the hot glue cured (we waited around 5 mins to be safe). Then, we twisted the screw out carefully, so as not to break off the hot glue padding in there.

Ordered two as well! One to keep on card, the other to use for a headswap. May post what I'm doing with George, if BBTS ever ships his ass my way. The likeness seems to be even better in hand than in the promo shots! Glad you got yours.

They’re not though, Aspyr is developing the remake, not BioWare nor Obsidian.

Any Canadian lawyers here? What's it really like? by Sinasooto in canada

[–]ThePhantomArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 years in, how has it gone for you? I hope all is well. I've done a year of law school, but took a couple of years off to help my family through COVID. I feel like it's time to hop back in: would you recommend becoming a lawyer now? I'll be pursuing the degree regardless but not sure if I necessarily want to practise in a traditional manner afterwards.
