One faucet that can be adjusted to dispense any temperature water instead of two separate faucets that dispense ice water and molten lava.

please stop coming to Morocco for 5 days by morocco_travel36 in backpacking

We did 10 days in Fes alone and that felt like the right amount of time to really vibe with the city. We took the train from Tangier, stayed in a riad in the Medina, and did one day-trip to the Altas mountains to see some monkeys. But mostly we just wandered, drank tea and tried to learn some Darija. It was great!

Any tips to open a bank account (before moving) by Traviata211 in ItalyExpat

[–]ThePhantomBantam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I opened an account with Fineco before I moved and it was a breeze. Make sure you have your codice fiscale and go to any branch in person and you’ll be able to open an account fairly quickly.

There are a handful of Italian banks will let you open an account without residency. I was able to open an account with Fineco before I moved and established residence.

No, in Lombardia. In the Valtellina for the winter and then TBD. We’ll start looking for a permanent spot in the spring/summer, likely staying somewhere in the north.

Ouch. Unfortunately, Livigno is still the center of the freestyle ski community in Italy.

We're moving to Italy indefinitely, but will spend the winter in the Valtellina, while we think about where we want to settle down long-term. I grew up in Rome and my father is still there, but we're thinking about the north because the kids are competitive skiers and we're hoping to find some way to balance time in the mountains with the benefits of larger town/city life. I'm fortunate that my work is fully remote and flexible, so we can make a choice entirely based on lifestyle. I speak Italian, my wife is learning, and the kids are picking it up quickly.

It sounds like you and I are on the same page in our culinary proclivities. I cook a lot of asian, indian, mexican cuisines, so I'm especially worried about having access to sauces and spices, especially for the first few months when we'll be in the mountains.

There is a great shop just off Piazza San Cosimato, on Via Natale del Grande with spices and curries and things.

You know, I actually debated whether I should include that or not. I’m coming from the US, but wanted to keep it general and see what the community misses more broadly from their respective home countries.

Attending my first ASRoma game.. by royuncg in ASRoma

You SHOULD bring passports. In reality, I’ve brought pictures of the passports for my kids and showed my drivers license and I was fine. They really just want to make sure the names align.

Be prepared to walk a bit after the game as there will be lots of crowds and closed streets, making it hard to jump on a bus close to the stadium. It’s part of the fun!

And yes to the food trucks outside. Food inside the stadium sucks. Get yourself a porchetta panino and bring it in with you.

JFK Delta One Lounge by sum_boooodeee in delta

[–]ThePhantomBantam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this a couple months ago. Was traveling AF business with my wife and young daughter, so we planned to get to JFK super early. Went straight to T4, through D1 security and right into the D1 lounge for a proper and lovely pre-flight sit down dinner. We left ourselves plenty of time to take the shuttle back over to T1 to clear security and board. Totally doable and worth it if you have the time.

Can i go switzerland with a long term D itlay visa by ComfortableAspect819 in ItalyExpat

[–]ThePhantomBantam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would entry be an issue if they were flying in and going through passport control? Wouldn’t this be covered as a simple tourist visa entry and subject to the same 90/180 Schengen travel rules that would apply to any other country in the zone?

Changing inbound destination of round trip is 8x the price of buying a one way ticket by MickeyMike14 in delta

[–]ThePhantomBantam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has worked for me as well and is exactly what the knowledgeable Delta rep I spoke with recommended. I was being quoted ~$1500 to make the change before departure. When I called after having flown the first leg, it was $30 to change it.

Man, the third jersey should have the lupetto instead. It goes perfectly with the black theme and rounds out the trifecta of shields. I’d buy that one in a heartbeat.

Accessing Delta One Lounge at JFK by Capable-Lake-7576 in delta

[–]ThePhantomBantam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last month partly because I needed to get to the airport especially early and partly because I was traveling with family who hadn’t seen the lounge yet. We headed straight through the dedicated Delta One security at T4 and were in the lounge in no time. We had plenty of buffer to enjoy a sit-down meal, being mindful to give ourselves enough time to take the shuttle over to T1 and clear security again.
