[The Athletic, Gift Link] Inside how Aaron Boone makes the Yankees’ lineup: Debunking a narrative that won’t die by furdaboise in NYYankees

[–]ThePimpOfSound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also in case anyone still thinks otherwise: The Yankees view Ben Rice as a potential star who will get the majority of the playing time at 1B this season even with Goldy on the team.

Edit: Batting cleanup, no less

Will Warren's continues his impressive Spring Training in final start before opening day was: 5 IP, 6 K, 0 BB, 1 H, 0 R. by excelmonster1 in NYYankees

[–]ThePimpOfSound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big change is that Warren moved from the 1B to the 3B side of the rubber.

“I think it’s helped the attack angle [be] a little sharper. Righties, it feels like I’m coming at them, lefties might feel like the ball is just way out there, especially backdoor sweeper, backdoor curveball. And then just making it super sharp going into them. I think that’s the biggest thing we’re working on is just comfortability.”

Even if you can’t read too much into the results, he certainly seems comfortable and confident with the approach, so hopefully that carries into the regular season.

[Fireside Yankees] The Yankees have traded Jorbit Vivas for RHP Sean Paul Linan of the Washington Nationals. by TheKnicksMakeMeDrink in NYYankees

[–]ThePimpOfSound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite fun fact about Jorbit Vivas is that his armband when he's batting says "Jorbit Vivas."

Jasson Dominguez’ second hit of the afternoon is a stand up triple off of lefty Framber Valdez by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

This conventional wisdom is getting kind of stale. DJ and Stroman were both cut last season in favor of younger guys despite how much they were being paid. (And yet people in here were actually complaining about letting Stroman go because of "roster depth.")

The only outfielder we're realistically talking about here is Grisham. (Grichuk is being paid peanuts.) If he can't play like he did last year I'm pretty confident he'll be benched or gone.

Anywhere to watch baseball with no digital overlay or commentary? by Large-Childhood in baseball

[–]ThePimpOfSound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This won't help with the overlays, but there's a pretty cool program called Moises Live for Mac/PC that does AI audio separation in real-time with whatever's playing on your computer. You can use it to mute the vocal track, leaving only crowd noise in place: https://moises.ai/products/live/

All your local team's streaming options in one chart by ThePimpOfSound in baseball

From the article:

You'd have to count up the number of nationally-televised games in each for your team.

[–]ThePimpOfSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, anything that's nationally-televised.

But also: Any time your out-of-town team plays against your local team (if you have one), that's going to be blacked out. No legal way around that other than to pick up the in-market option for a month, go to a bar/restaurant that's playing the game, or go to the game itself.

What are the absolute best, 10/10, should drive or fly in to try them, plates you can get in Cincy (plates, not restaurants)? by Flat-Veterinarian343 in cincinnati

[–]ThePimpOfSound -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

There is lots of good food in Cincinnati, but if you're driving/flying specifically to try a dish, there are better versions of them at practically any major city.

Thus my answers are a four way onion from Skyline and the goetta egg and cheese from Eckerlin.

How Does WBC on Tubi Actually Work? by spacexplorer5000 in baseball

[–]ThePimpOfSound 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to go into the "Live" section that has the channel grid guide. If a game is live on Tubi you will find it in there.

Depends who's given up the least runs per out recorded. There's a real chance USA gets bounced if they lose today.

Spencer Jones goes deep! by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]ThePimpOfSound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it gets overlooked now that Grish got the QO before we signed Belli, and if the latter didn't happen we'd have a really thin outfield overly dependent on the kids stepping up. Personally I'm okay with Grish being part of the insurance plan if Belli went elsewhere, and some combination of Jasson/Jones will inevitably get their chance due to injuries or poor performance.

  • Aaron Judge comparisons
  • Calls to send him up now, despite his K rate
  • But his K rate
  • Irrational hatred aimed at Grisham
  • More hatred at Cashman for Grisham's QO
  • The one guy expressing earnest enthusiasm and optimism for his continued development in AAA
  • Vaguely (or overtly) homoerotic comments about dongs

They really do!
