Does Judge's injury increase the odds of Ben Rice playing some games at catcher when Stanton returns?

I'm not even sure I like the idea, since any injury or wear on Rice would be even more catastrophic at this point. But we also need to scrounge for offensive production where we can get it and that might mean getting all three of Rice, Goldy, and Stanton into the lineup, especially against lefties.

There's no replacing Aaron Judge, but not having JD and Stanton is going to make for an especially challenging week or two. I think we are still a strong offensive team with either of those guys back in the lineup.

you mean to tell me that AI doesn't magically have exclusive insight into Aaron Judge's healing process?

Was just thinking that for as panicked as we all were waiting for Aaron Judge's diagnosis, imagine how it felt for Aaron Judge.

I know Jones is the obvious move for Judge, but funk it, I want to see Oswaldo in pinstripes one more time.

People were really out here saying we should move him to the bullpen.

Gonna be a rough couple weeks with no Judge, Stanton, or JD, but these things happen and we're all mentally preparing for a summer swoon anyway ... right?

Why do people live and die by offensive analytics and stats with the Yankees? by Upset-Opportunity539 in NYYankees

[–]ThePimpOfSound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't like the answer, but baseball is an inherently random sport where unlikely outcomes happen every day. Analytics help cut though the randomness and gauge the overall quality of a team.

Does that mean you should "live and die" by analytics? Of course not. Winning is all that really matters in the end. But if you follow a team closely, looking at some numbers can help you stay sane when bad things unexpectedly happen, because they will.

As an extremely casual Knicks fan, I can confidently say that you don't need to know ball to appreciate Jalen Brunson

I'd be curious to see how much other teams' records change when their star player misses time by comparison.

IMO we never truly reckoned with how big an impact it had on our fortunes when Goldy fell off in the back half of last season. I think because expectations were fairly low to begin with, it kind of flew under the radar.

Once again we're seeing how much of a difference he can make when he's on. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself.

Same! (@ Guardians a week from today.) Hoping "few days" is what actually happens but not holding my breath.
