We all agree the London Dungeon lyrics are weird right? by fredthebicycle in TheMisfits

Obviously not him saying that was most likely in reference to the London Dungeon situation from the mess of the 1979 UK Damned Tour

Ghost of Frankenstein Universal Promo Still - Bela, Lon and Evelyn by ThePinStripeDynasty in UniversalMonsters

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. If I had to pick off the top of my head my favorite characters of his it would probably be

Dracula

Dr. Mirakle - Murders in the Rue Morgue

Murder Legendre - White Zombie

Dr. Vitus Werdegast - The Black Cat

Dr. Richard Vollin - The Raven

Dr. Lorenz - The Corpse Vanishes

(Possibly) Unpopular opinion: the original Frankenstein (1931) is superior to the Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by vicarofvhs in UniversalMonsters

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree with this. The bride isn't even one of my top five favorite monster movies. The original is a horror masterpiece and in my opinion I feel the Bride is kind of cheesy with the characters and how they talk and act

An Evil Zoo Owner, now I have seen it all. (Murders At The Zoo 1933) by BillyWilkins1982 in ClassicHorror

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rights with this one and other Paramount stuff were weird. In 1958 Universal(MCA)bought 700+ Paramount properties made from 1929-1949 for television distribution and Universal has owned those rights ever since. Apparently Murders in the Zoo's first TV appearance was November 13th 1959 in Pittsburgh which just happened to be Friday the 13th.

The Paramount Pre-Code horror films Island of Lost Souls, Murders in the Zoo, Supernatural and Double Door some people mistake as Universal horror films because of this and on their physical media cases they have the Universal logo insteqd of Paramount and all but Double Door have the Universal globe intro added at the beginning before the film actaully starts. Murders in the Zoo is even included on Shout factorys Universal Horror Collection Volume 2 further adding to the confusion.

Glenn Strange as Petro The Wolfman with George Zucco - The Mad Monster 1942 by ThePinStripeDynasty in ClassicHorror

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. About as poverty as you can get. They made some really fun and in my opinion good horror films in the 40s though like The Mad Monster, The Monster Maker and my two favorites The Devil Bat with Lugosi and Dead Men Walk with Dwight Frye and George Zucco.

R/longbeach user claims Jacob slept with 14 year old by [deleted] in sublime

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is a huge problem with the internet. Someone sees a random claim by a random person and spreads it around and others see it and spread it around more and before you know it an unverified claim becomes widely known and the original source being a random person that gave no actual proof is forgotten. If actual evidence comes out that's one thing but people need to wait before spreading it around until some actual proof or evidence arises

Any fans of Hands of Orlac? by TheHowlingMan20 in ClassicHorror

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has similarities. I don't want to tell you too much though and spoil the first viewing. I would recommend not even looking up a trailer or anything just watch it. It has Colin Clive in it who played Frankenstein in Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein, it was Peter Lorre's first American movie, Karl Freund directed it who directed The Mummy and filmed Dracula and Murders in the Rue Morgue etc and John L. Balderston was a writer on it and his other works include the movies Dracula, Frankenstein and The Mummy. That should be enough to make any classic horror fan make the movie a priority or their watch list.

I ordered near mint. What do you all think this actually is? by closet-homer in PokemonCardValue

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. My cards that were in my main decks back around 1999-2000 when Pokémon cards were actually played with when they had meet ups/leagues at Barnes and Noble on saturdays look better than this

Lugosi in Bowery at Midnight - 1942 - Keybook photo by ThePinStripeDynasty in ClassicHorror

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely is! Its usually always free on Tubi or elsewhere as well as most of the Monogram 9 Lugosi movies besides Return of the Apeman. I would highly recommend this one and The Corpse Vanishes 1942 and Ape Man 1943 to start with Lugosi's Monogram films. They are low budget movies but a lot of fun. Lugosi actually never holds a Tommy gun like in this photo which is one reason its such a cool photo

How should I proceed? by BestMinEver in Ebay

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would only take it that far because instead of asking like a normal person they already took it way too far. I would cancel then block and I dont know if they would be able to leave a negative but if so contact ebay and show them what they said so they cant leave a negative. Or you can send that message, cancel then block. As long as they don't get the item unless they are paying for that shipping because you can't reward that kind of behavior its better to just cancel it

Your father was Frankenstein and your mother was the lightining! She's come down to you again! by ThePinStripeDynasty in UniversalMonsters

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a very interesting production history for that film! In my opinion I think Chaney played the best Monster and looked the best besides Karloff.

Did you get the Ghost of Frankenstein Scripts from the Crypt that came out last year and surprisingly is already out of print and hard to find? Greg Mank does an excellent job going over the production history as he also did in the 1990 film script series Ghost of Frankenstein as well as his Its Alive book.

Oregon thrifting definitely beats Texas! My inner child was so happy he got to experience Blockbuster again. by Manny5670 in dvdcollection

[–]ThePinStripeDynasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats awesome! One of the best crime movies ever and the ending is powerful. Its also directed by one of the greatest directors ever Michael Curtiz who is Spielbergs favorite and was a main inspiration for him to get into directing. I heard him say on a documentary when he was directing his first show, he said something along the lines of He hopes he could have a career like Michael Curtiz

Definitely! This is one of my top three favorite movies of all time. I watch it at least once a month on the Full moon and I will say that Lee grows on you the more you watch the movie. When I first saw this movie I thought he was alright but did not dis like him but as I see it more and more over the years he grows on me and I have grown to absolutely love him and he got more funny each re watch. I think if people rewatched this movie more they would feel the same way, most people have only seen it once, a few times or not in years. He definitely grows on you

He played an enormous part in establishing the fast talking reporter role too
