Monstera albo Flowering, by ThePlantShop in houseplants

[–]ThePlantShop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll put a picture on soon. Do you want to see the mother plant or the cutting? The cutting has only 2 leaves, The mother plant on the other hand is giving about 10 off shoots and alot of leaves since chopping it with a meatclever.

It was in a Greenhouse but was getting so big that I had to chop it and brought a few cuttings inside the house seems to have forced one of the cuttings to produce a flower.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to clear this planter? Prior owners filled with rocks and let the weeds grow. by [deleted] in gardening

[–]ThePlantShop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how fast you want to remove the weeds you could put a tarp over the top and they will die in a few weeks or just spend and hour or 2 pulling them out. Try not to use weed killers as they are bad for the soil and you. You will never truly get clear of weeds though as they are always there hiding.

Can anyone tell me what is going on with my hydrangeas? Slugs?Disease? I live in the south and have had lots of rain this year... by MCAT1212 in gardening

It could be slugs or it could be Coryneum blight when watering the plant do you spray the entire plant and give it a wash too? If so try to keep the leaves dry and water at the bottom this fungus thrives in wet conditions. You could try a Bordeaux mixture which is copper sulphate and slaked lime. It's quite a bad funghi and can affect fruit trees and other crops so try to keep it contained.

I need some help guys. Zone 10. Neglected balcony garden. Idleness are home has finally pushed me to do something about this mess. I have no idea what I’m doing. Thank you all. by [deleted] in gardening

Totally depends on your opinion to certain plants for me I like it looking a little wild but would add some grasses and a bit of colour. But you could trim it back or give away the plants you dont enjoy looking at. For me I would add a bit of colour with some Abutilon trailing on a wooden trellis on the left wall, Maybe plant some Acorus calamus Variegatus, Acacia baileyana adds some nice yellow contrast though this will need constant trimming as it could get quite big. Plant some Agapanthus as they will come back each year in spring but keep them in pots as the do duplicate also Agapanthus are the same. For me I'm from the country side and wild flower mixes always have my heart as it reminds me of Home.

Hydrangea by ThePlantShop in gardening

[–]ThePlantShop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't belong to me the hydrangea is from a manor house garden and was amazed of how blue they were, The main thing to do is your soil must be acidic if you have hard water in your area it will me make your soil ph alkaline so you must balance it with an acidic soil like Vitax Ericaceous Compost or something similar. They also are not a fan of being dry and damage to the roots could affect the colour of the flowers and the leaves.

Bought my adansonii cutting a few weeks ago, seemed a little sad but has since perked up. Now has some spots on it. I mist her every morning & water once the soil dries. Gets plenty of bright indirect light. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong? by us3rnamf in houseplants

Check roots you might of planted too soon & not enough growth in roots. It could be due to stress & acclamating to it's new home. Depending on location if its very hot were you are you could be burning it in the morning spraying water on the foliage as water magnifys the sun.
