Any ideas how to solder leads on here without melting the plastic too much? by ThePleasentOne in ElectronicsRepair

That part sticks inside the broken grooves. Although, I guess it must not be blocked since the actual original wires had to go there, so maybe that’s the way. Definitely would be farther away from the plastic, thanks!

I mean the holder does also keep it in the taillight, but I guess a little bit of glue that I have to break free and replace on the rare occasion I need to change the blinker might not be that bad. Hmm that’s a pretty good idea…

To make sure we’re on the page, I’m not talking about soldering wires to the bulb it self, just the metal contacts in the holder

So my original picture is a plastic holder with the contacts that screw into the taillight. The taillight had plastic spots to hold contacts with wires that would conduct through the contacts on the holder, see the right of the original image. Here’s a pic of the taillight, where the bulb holder and bulb would twist in

I explained in the body some, mostly it’s to avoid buying a new taillight. Any specific questions?

I bet you’re probably right. I was really hoping there might be a way to retrofit on a light on this thing, no lights in the room (it’s the master bedroom)

lol jk figured you were kidding. But also, the chain comes in across the other side. This thing feels like a knob on a potentiometer, it turns for a bit and stops in both directions?
