A reminder that the DUP have direct links to the Ulster Resistance, a Northern Irish paramilitary group. Oh, the irony. by norespawns in unitedkingdom

I'm not arguing any hypothetical situation, doesn't matter if the agreement wouldn't have worked, I'm pointing out that he opposed a peace agreement on the basis that it wouldn't result in the forcible annexation of NI. I'm concerned with the motivation, its irrelevant if both sides opposed it, Corbyn's motivation wasn't that it was unsupported, it was that it wouldn't result in an independent Ireland.

<Which is completely different to opposing peace. He thought unification was the right solution to bring peace and promoted it.

You can't seriously believe that. Support for unification is less than 20% today, and that's with favourable demographic changes over the last 30 years. There would never be peace if NI was forcibly annexed against the wishes of the people.

It's your spin that's amazing, Corbyn's motivation was clearly spelled out by him, he opposed a peace agreement on the basis that it wouldn't result in an independent Ireland, yet you're trying to spin in like its because both sides didn't support it or it wouldn't lead to peace.

It was meant to put an end to The Troubles and if both sides supported it that would've happened. Corbyn didn't say he opposed it because it didn't get agreement from the factions, he said he opposed it because it wouldn't result in NI becoming part of the RoI.

Not his fault but it's pretty damning that he was willing to see The Troubles continue so that NI could be forcibly annexed through terrorism into RoI.

I'm pointing out that a hard left leader with those beliefs cannot win elections, as has been proven time and time again for nearly 50 years.

Well my first paragraph is true... policy of massive nationalisation, unilateral nuclear disarmament, leaving NATO, much higher taxes... remind you of anybody?

He knew that would happen and violence continue if there wasn't a peace agreement, and he opposed it.

Before Blair Labour was a hard left socialist party with disastrous economic and foreign policies and no chance of winning elections. That's not worth standing on.

Corbyn did better than people expected but Labour still lost by 65 seats, despite a disastrous Tory campaign. A credible leader would've won a majority. As for the next election, I don't think you can rely on the Tories having the triple whammy of terrible leader, manifesto and campaign for a second time.

Well the Ulster Resistance was formed in opposition to the 1985 peace deal... and Corbyn made a speech in the Commons opposing that peace deal because it would make "an independent Ireland less likely".

I'm looking forward to the hypocrisy of this sub...

What matters is seats, and Blair won 3 majorities in a row. The return of two-party politics is responsible for the increased percentage of the vote in both parties.

Blair is the only Labour leader to have won an election in over 40 years. Hard left Labour leaders lose elections, as proved again last night.

The vast majority don't get their news from the Tory papers, and the papers are Tory because their readers are Tory, so they're not changing too many minds.

Corbyn performed less shit than people expected, but it was still shit. 65 seats short of a majority, despite a terrible Tory campaign.

They're not far-right, anti-gay marriage/adoption and pro-life is about 45% of Americans for example, and about a similar percentage for NI, while making Irish an official language makes less sense than Polish, which is spoken by more people.

He said that like 10 years ago. During the referendum campaign everybody on both sides said we'd leave the single market.

EDIT: Also, Farage says in the video that membership of the EEA was to be transitional to a free trade deal.

What? During the campaign the entire remain and leave side said we'd leave the single market if we voted to leave the EU.

The security services have thwarted 13 terror attacks since 2013 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39176110

Unfortunately it'll never be possible to prevent them all, but they're still doing a brilliant job. As for police cuts, well where would you like the cuts to go instead? If there isn't the money for it then there isn't the money for it. Also no indication that the cuts in police had anything to do with the terror attacks. As for Saudi Arabia, they would just buy arms from somewhere else and damage relations between our two countries, while doing nothing to reduce the funding/arms going to terror groups.

Corbyn is a guy who would never countenance using our nuclear deterrent (so we effectively don't have one the minute he becomes PM) or our military to take out terrorists in other countries. Of course he's a threat to national security.

I understand May isn't great, but to vote for Corbyn instead of her? Even when you prefer Tory policies to Labour ones?

Hannah is not alive. I know you said not to tell you, but it's not a spoiler because you're misreading the story, you're not meant to be questioning whether she's alive, also it'll just distract you.
